When He Asked Me to Stay for Her, I Chose Myself Chapter 06

When He Asked Me to Stay for Her, I Chose Myself Chapter 06

I was a little surprised.

“I didn’t expect you to still remember this.”

Ever since the first time I drank alcohol, no matter how much I drank, I always woke up the next morning feeling dizzy and exhausted.

At first, Ethan would make something to help with my hangover too.

Later, he said he was too busy.

After that, he either told me to find something myself or asked me to go to the hospital for an IV drip.

Ryan just smiled.

“Get some rest.”

“Professor Williams said you can take two days off first. There’s no rush to start working.”

“He asked me to show you around and help you settle in.”

After taking a shower, I lay on the bed and finally checked my phone.

That was when I saw Ethan’s messages.

[Why did you delete and block Madison? She only borrowed your dress and silver pendant necklace. Was it really necessary to treat her like that?]

[There’s a company offering us interviews. Let’s go together tomorrow.]

There was an hour between the two messages.

It was obvious Ethan had sent them without even considering how I felt.

At that moment, messages suddenly started flooding the class group chat.

Madison tagged everyone.

[I took some amazing photos of the meteor shower with Ethan.]

Then she sent a video.

At first, it showed a normal meteor shower.

Then the angle suddenly changed.

Madison was leaning against Ethan’s shoulder.

It only appeared for a split second, but I could still see her kissing him.

And Ethan hadn’t pushed her away.

After all, Ethan and I had been together for four years.

I couldn’t just let go of everything overnight.

Seeing those things still made me uncomfortable.

As long as I didn’t see it myself, I could still pretend everything was fine.

I left the group chat.

Turned off my phone.

Buried myself under the blanket.

With the alcohol still in my system, I slept peacefully that night.

I didn’t wake up until nine the next morning.

When I checked my phone again, it was filled with messages from several classmates.

[Vivian, Madison posted a picture on Instagram at midnight and deleted it quickly. It looked like she and Ethan slept together.]

[In the picture, Madison was lying on Ethan’s chest. Neither of them was wearing anything!]

Someone sent me the original photo.

The moment I saw it, I didn’t feel angry.

I didn’t feel hurt either.

I only felt disgust.

[I’ve already broken up with Ethan.]

After sending the same reply to everyone, I got up and got ready.

Not long after, Ryan arrived.

He had even brought breakfast for me.

“I was worried you might not be used to the food here, so besides some local dishes, I also made you a blueberry bun.”

“When I first came here, it took me a month to adjust to the food.”

Ryan smiled.

I picked up the blueberry bun and took a bite.

It was my favorite blueberry flavor.

I took a sip of milk.

It was slightly sweet, just the way I liked it.

After everything he had done for me, Ryan must have woken up very early and barely slept.

After breakfast, Ryan knew how much I loved flowers.

So he took me to a nearby garden first.

Flowers bloomed everywhere.

They were all roses, my favorite flowers.

I casually picked up a petal, held it near my nose, and gently smelled it.

“Even the most beautiful flowers will eventually wither and fade.”

“Just like people in love. They eventually drift apart.”

“You can’t stop someone who has already decided to leave.”

Ryan stared at me.

His lips moved slightly, as if he wanted to say something.

But in the end, he stayed silent.

After that, Ryan took me to several other places.

He took care of every little detail, as if taking care of me was his responsibility.

He was even more thoughtful and attentive than Ethan had ever been with me.

He also explained everything I didn’t understand along the way.

As the sun began to set, we prepared to head back.

Suddenly, Ryan looked directly at me.

“Vivian, can you… give me another chance?”
