I Spiked His Drink, He Drank It Anyway Chapter 02
The sound of running water stopped.
I’d almost forgotten. Stellan had drunk that glass of water.
And if the comments were right, the drug should be hitting its peak right about now.
I opened the bathroom door and looked up at him.
His eyes burned with a heat he was barely keeping in check.
I assumed he needed the bathroom, so I stepped aside to let him in.
The moment I walked past him, his hand closed around my wrist.
In one swift move, he pinned me against the bathroom door.
“That water,” he said, his voice low. “What did you put in it?”
I played dumb. “What are you talking about?”
“You added something.”
His eyes locked onto mine before slowly drifting to my lips.
Just as he lowered his head to kiss me, I shoved him away.
“N-No.” The denial stumbled out before I could stop it.
“I have dance rehearsal. You should get some sleep.”
I fled before he could stop me.
The comments immediately exploded.
[Stellan must’ve been out of his mind just now, trying to kiss Tamsin.]
[The drug was so strong he mistook the side character for the female lead.]
[Hold on. Did the side character seriously reject Stellan?]
[Please. It’s the same old playing-hard-to-get routine.]
[Remember last time? She turned him down, regretted it all night, then complained to her best friend on the phone… not knowing Stellan was standing outside listening.]
There was a private dance studio inside The Hollister Estate just for me.
After changing into my practice clothes, I started rehearsing.
My body moved through the choreography, but my mind stayed on the comments.
Six months ago, Stellan had come home drunk after a business dinner.
When I got back, he was asleep on the couch.
I tried to wake him so he could go upstairs.
Instead, he pulled me into his arms.
His lips crashed against mine, and I nearly gave in.
That night, I could’ve turned our fake marriage into a real one.
But I was so deep into my aloof, untouchable act—the one I thought he wanted—that I overdid it.
I figured a woman like that would never just fall into bed with a drunk man. Wouldn’t that make me look cheap?
So I pushed him away and had Martin help him back to his room.
By the middle of the night, I was drowning in regret.
The next morning, during a break from rehearsal, I called my best friend Maren.
“If I’d slept with him last night,” I grumbled, “would my spot as Mrs. Hollister be safe by now?”
Stellan, he actually heard that?
God, the humiliation.
The comments weren’t done.
[Oh, that was just the tip of the iceberg.]
[Pretty much every ridiculous thing you’ve done this past year? He knows about all of it.]
[Like when you paid a guy to bring flowers to The Aurelia Dance Collective every day just to make him jealous.]
[Too bad the guy worked for Hollister Group. Stellan had his assistant bring him into the office, and he confessed everything.]
[He knows exactly who you are.]
[He knows you’ve been trying to turn a fake marriage into the real thing. You agreed to fake it, then got greedy.]
[The type he hates most? A pretty face with zero follow-through—scheming but never smart enough to pull it off.]
[The woman Stellan likes is Iris. Smart, capable, calm, and quietly resilient. Not a dramatic airhead like Tamsin.]
I really thought I’d been so careful, so good at hiding it all.
Turns out, he knew. Every. Single. Thing.
Wow. So I was the joke.
Fine. No more acting. Happy now?
From now on, I’d just be myself—wait for the divorce, take my settlement, and return him to the woman he wanted all along.
