After Three Years as a Deranged Alpha’s Sedative, I Faked My Death Chapter 14

After Three Years as a Deranged Alpha’s Sedative, I Faked My Death Chapter 14

One year later.

Key West.

The ocean was calm, and sunlight spilled across the private beach.

I lay beneath the sun in a couture swimsuit and limitededition sunglasses, sipping chilled champagne.

The beach and the luxury resort behind it now belonged to me.

With the assets Adrian had transferred to me, I completed several major investments within a year and became one of the youngest female billionaires in North America.

As for the Black family, after losing its heir and most of its private assets, it was forced to withdraw from New York’s most influential pack

alliance.

The Pack Council selected a new Alpha candidate,

while Mrs. Black remained hospitalized after

suffering a stroke.

Boss, your sunscreen.”

Adrian approached in a plain white Tshirt and black shorts, speaking quietly.

He was still tall, but much thinner than before, and

the Florida sun had turned his skin bronze.

The face that had once been marked by constant

arrogance now carried only exhaustion and

numbness.

Holding the bottle of sunscreen, he knelt on one

knee beside my lounge chair.

He warmed the lotion between his palms, then

carefully spread it over my lower legs.

His movements were practiced, and his touch was

controlled and gentle.

Over the past year, he had truly become an unpaid

hotel handyman who obeyed every instruction

without question. He showed no temper, made no

complaints, and handled every minor task around

the hotel. His Alpha rage episodes never returned.

He carried out my orders mechanically, surviving.

only because of his obsession with seeing me each day.

Boss, what would you like for lunch?

After applying the sunscreen, he wiped the lotion

from his hands with a towel and asked in a low

voice.

Whatever.”

I lazily rolled onto my side.

Oh, and one of the new guests complained yesterday that the pool wasn’t clean enough. Work late tonight and scrub it three times. If you don’t finish, you don’t get a day off tomorrow.”

Adrian’s movements paused for a moment.

He lowered his eyes, hiding the pain he was

struggling to suppress.

Okay.”

He stood, picked up a broom, and silently walked

away to clear the fallen leaves from the beach.

I watched his retreating figure.

The Alpha pressure that had once forced every

werewolf to bow had vanished.

Only the faint scent of fir remained, so weak in the

sea breeze that it was almost impossible to

detect.

I raised my chilled champagne and took a slow

sip.

A sedative.”

I laughed softly.

Could you ever fall in love with a sedative?”

Of course not.

But a capitalist would keep using it until it no longer had any value.

The sea breeze drifted past, and the sunlight was

blinding.

At last, I was living the life I had chosen for myself.
