Marriage Lottery: Heaven Sign Or Hell Ticket Chapter 09
Elias entered with a group of bodyguards behind him.
Damian narrowed his eyes. Instead of loosening his grip, he tapped the sharp surgical blade against my cheek. “Quite the temper you have, Mr. Whitmore.”
“What? Did you also take an interest in my new toy?”
Elias’s gaze turned ice-cold.
He didn’t waste another word. He simply lifted his chin.
The bodyguards surged forward instantly.
Damian reacted just as fast. He yanked my hair, dragging me in front of him like a shield, the blade pressing tightly against my throat. “No one moves!”
“If anyone takes one more step, I’ll slice her throat!”
All the bodyguards halted.
I could feel the tip of the knife pushing into my skin, warm blood sliding down my neck.
I didn’t dare breathe.
On the ground, Vivian began to stir.
She regained consciousness, blinked at the chaos before her, and turned deathly pale. “Damian…”
He didn’t spare her a single glance. The blade stayed firmly at my neck. “Elias, look at her. So beautiful. So fragile.”
—
“With just a little pressure, this masterpiece is ruined. That would be a waste, don’t you think?”
Elias’s eyes burned red as he stared at the knife against my throat.
“Let her go. I’ll give you whatever you want.”
Damian laughed. “What I want… You can’t give.”
He looked at me with a twisted, obsessive hunger. “I want her.”
“From head to toe, inside and out. Completely mine.”
A sickening chill rolled through my stomach.
Just then, as Damian’s entire focus remained fixed on me, Elias moved.
I heard a sharp whistle slice through the air.
In the next second, Damian let out a guttural scream.
A steel pen had pierced straight through his wrist.
Elias had thrown it—clean, precise, ruthless.
The scalpel clattered to the floor.
Damian clutched his bleeding wrist and tried to lunge at me again.
The bodyguards swarmed him instantly, slamming him onto the ground.
Elias approached and pressed his shoe down on Damian’s other wrist, grinding it mercilessly.
Damian’s agonized screams filled the basement.
—
“Enough noise.”
“Take him out and finish him.”
Two bodyguards hauled the half-dead Damian away.
The remaining ones walked toward Vivian.
Terrified, she scrambled across the floor, clutching at a guard’s leg.
“Don’t kill me! I’m her sister! I’m Aria’s sister!”
“Aria! Help me! Please! I don’t want to die!”
I looked at her, my heart eerily calm.
Elias stepped toward me, his tall figure blocking out the dim light.
He knelt down and used a handkerchief to gently wipe the blood from my neck.
His touch was careful, but my body still trembled involuntarily.
Then he cut the ropes binding my wrists and ankles.
The moment I tried to stand, my legs gave out and I fell again.
The next moment, my body was suddenly lifted into the air.
Elias had swept me into his arms.
I froze, instinctively looping my arms around his neck.
He held me firmly and carried me up the stairs, step by step, out of the basement.
Outside, the sunlight was bright, almost painfully so, forcing me to
—
squint.
He placed me gently inside the car before sliding in beside me.
I turned toward him, the silence suffocating.
“So… uh…”
“Will the medical bills, emotional damages, and lost wages be reimbursed this time? They should be covered, right?”
Elias said nothing. He only looked at me.
His stare made my skin prickle with discomfort.
“I… I think I deserve a raise, don’t I?”
“I mean, if I’m both the stand-in and the true love, shouldn’t I get double pay? Otherwise, I might never recover from this trauma.”
The corner of Elias’s mouth seemed to twitch a bit.
His voice was low and slightly hoarse when he finally spoke, “There is no stand-in.”
I froze.
“Those photos on the wall… I took them secretly.”
“Aria… from the very beginning, the only person in my heart has been you.”
