Forty-Nine Days of His Fake Amnesia Chapter 02
Moonlight Mountain Rescue got blocked at the curve.
Jimmy stood in front of the cordon, all smiles. “It’s a commercial shoot. We have permits. Everyone’s an actor.”
Captain Rowan Pike tore his badge off.
“Actors trigger real accident alerts? Road workers heard the impact. That car’s crushed.”
Felix went white. He stabbed his earpiece.
“Kill all feeds. Put the stream on delay. No outsiders see anything.”
The comments were still buzzing.
[Why’s it black? Don’t stop! I want her begging Alpha Evan.]
[Alpha Evan went too easy on her. She should kneel and apologize to Mira.]
My body was still inside.
The young healer actor finally reached the door. His hand shook as he checked my neck.
Seconds later, he yanked back.
“No pulse.”
Felix grabbed him. “You’re insane. Say that out loud and we’re all dead.”
“But she’s gone!”
“Shut up. Alpha Evan didn’t call it. You know who signs your check?”
Captain Rowan heard that. His face turned to stone.
“Breach it.”
Hydraulic cutters bit into the door. Metal screamed.
They pulled my body out piece by piece. The white stretcher soaked through instantly.
I floated above them, watching the CPR.
One.
Two.
Three.
Nothing. I didn’t feel anything anymore.
Down at Highpine Hot Springs Lodge, Evan was helping Mira change.
She twirled in front of the mirror in my Luna coat.
“Sweetie… is this Naomi’s?”
Evan scrolled stream data on the couch.
“She has plenty. She won’t miss it.”
Mira touched the Luna emblem on the cuff. “I just… feel like she’d be mad.”
Evan looked up. Softened.
“She can be mad. Today’s about you, not her feelings.”
Mira’s eyes went red.
“I don’t want to hurt her. I just can’t forget those ninety-nine times.”
“That’s why I made her play nurse for forty-nine days.”
“She loves being the loyal mate? Fine. Let her tend to an alpha who doesn’t remember her. Then watch him choose another she-wolf.”
Mira leaned into him. A soft hum.
Felix called.
Evan hit speaker.
“What?”
Chaos on the other end. Rescue wolves shouting.
“Alpha Evan… Luna Naomi…”
Evan frowned. “What now?”
Felix stalled. His voice cracked. “She got taken to Moonlight Medical Center. By the real rescue team.”
“What hospital?” Evan’s voice went ice. “I said all medical stays in-house. Who leaked?”
“Someone called the cops. We couldn’t stop them.”
Evan’s alpha pressure filled the room. “Who?”
Mira tugged his sleeve.
“Sweetie… what if Naomi called them? She always blames me for everything. She knew I was going public tonight. She ran to the hospital for sympathy.”
Evan’s jaw tightened.
“Tell the hospital she got startled during filming. Nothing more. She doesn’t talk.”
Felix tried, “The healers say it’s bad.”
Evan laughed. Cold.
“Long as she can still apologize, it’s fine.”
He hung up. Adjusted Mira’s collar.
“Let’s go. She won’t ruin tonight. Say whatever you want in the interview.”
Mira looked up. “What about Naomi?”
“She can cool off at the hospital.”
A pause.
“When she’s ready to admit she’s wrong, I’ll go get her.”
Up on the mountain, the emergency healer hit the defibrillator.
My body arched off the stretcher. Slammed back down.
The line stayed flat.
The healer pulled his mask off. Voice low.
“Call the family. Prepare the death certificate.”
