My Best Friend’s Perfect Boyfriend Was My Alpha Fiancé Chapter 07
On the screen, Hazel stood outside the Werewolf Court.
Her face was pale, but her expression remained calm and composed.
Jonathan stiffly turned his head. His gaze was locked onto the fragile figure on the screen, unable to move away.
Inside the broadcast, the Alpha King asked calmly:
“Gamma Hazel, according to the case files, before you were assaulted by three suspects at Lunar Veil, you attempted to seek help from someone outside. At that time, was there no one familiar with you nearby?”
Hazel looked directly into the camera. Her voice was steady.
“Yes.”
The Alpha King continued asking, “Then why didn’t you call that person for help at the time?”
Hazel frowned slightly, as if she was unwilling to recall that hellish night.
“Yes, I did. I sent him a message asking for help, and I called him. In fact, I was only separated from him by one wall.”
The entire courtroom erupted in shock.
The Alpha King’s voice rose with anger, “Who was that person? If he was right next door, why didn’t he come save you?”
Hazel gave a faint laugh. But there was only emptiness and despair in her eyes.
Facing the blinding flashes of cameras, she spoke slowly, each word clear.
“That person was my mate.”
“He didn’t come to save me because at that moment, he was in the room next door, involved with my best friend.”
The entire world seemed to fall silent.
On the plaza, Jonathan could hear nothing except his own heavy, frantic breathing.
His pale lips trembled violently. His legs suddenly gave out, and he collapsed onto the bloodstained case file.
The trial continued.
“Gamma Hazel, why did your mate not appear? Where is he now?”
On the screen, Hazel slowly lifted her eyes.
She stared quietly into the camera, as if she could see the person standing on the other side of the screen.
Her voice echoed through the speakers and across the entire plaza.
“Because at this very moment, he is busy holding a marking ceremony with my best friend.”
The crowd of werewolves watching instantly exploded. Anger spread through the crowd.
“His own mate was being raped, and he was cheating with another woman in the room next door? He even has the nerve to hold a wedding with his mistress? He’s the lowest of the lowest!”
“A beast who can’t control himself should be physically punished!”
“Exactly. Those two will definitely suffer the consequences!”
Every single word pierced Jonathan’s back like a sharp needle.
“No… that’s not true… Hazel!”
He suddenly got up.
Without caring about his dignity, he stumbled and crawled toward the Werewolf Court.
Finally, he blocked Hazel’s path at the bottom of the long staircase as she was about to leave.
Jonathan grabbed her hand tightly, his words coming out in a desperate, broken rush.
“Hazel, I was wrong. I truly didn’t know you were also there that night. If I had known, I would have gone to save you even if it cost me my life!”
“Today’s marking ceremony was fake. I only changed the bride to force you to show yourself. Hazel, please forgive me, okay?”
Hazel pulled her hand away from his grip and let out a cold laugh.
“Jonathan, you didn’t know. You simply didn’t want to know.”
“Victoria and I sent you messages at the same time. You went to her immediately, but you didn’t even bother looking at my messages. How could you possibly have known?”
Jonathan’s face turned pale, “No, that’s not…”
Hazel looked at his pale expression and continued.
“Three years ago, during that storm, I had an allergic reaction and waited for you on the roadside for an hour and a half. Victoria only said she was cold, and you arrived to pick her up in less than ten minutes. That time, I almost suffocated because of my allergy.”
“Last year, when I suffered acute stomach bleeding, I called you twenty times, and you didn’t answer a single one. Was it because Victoria posted that she was hungry, so you were busy taking her to the pack doctor?”
“Three days ago, I truly believed you would come to my rescue.”
“But not only did you not show up, you even hung up my final cry for help because Victoria sent you nothing but a single period.”
She looked down at Jonathan, exposing the last piece of his false love.
“You keep saying you love me, but again and again, you choose to abandon me without hesitation for another woman. Is this the love you keep talking about?”
Jonathan broke down completely.
He covered his ears, unable to listen anymore.
“I’m sorry, Hazel. I really love you. Please give me one more chance…”
Hazel took the wedding ring from her pocket and threw it directly at Jonathan’s face.
“Two dead children, three years of love, and a body covered in wounds.”
“How are you ever going to repay what you owe me?”
