The Forgotten Twin Chapter 06

Mom pointed at my result on the big screen.

“Madeline is Rank D! How could you possibly be here to recruit her? If you’re willing to admit someone who handed in a blank paper, then why can’t Clara be admitted too?”

The admissions officers looked at Mom speechlessly.

By now, they had figured everything out.

To this family, Clara was a treasure.

As for me, Madeline… I was nothing.

Their expressions darkened, “Our principals made it very clear. We’re here to recruit Madeline Morton.”

“Is Madeline Morton here? We’d like to speak with her.”

A faint smile tugged at my lips as I stepped out from the corner, “I’m Madeline Morton.”

I walked toward the three admissions officers.

The moment they saw me, their faces lit up with smiles, and they hurried over.

The admissions officer from Royal Fang was the first to shake my hand.

“So you’re Madeline Morton! Wonderful, this is wonderful! Our principal just told us that you’re this year’s exceptionally rare SSS-ranked Golden Wolf!”

“If you choose Royal Fang, your tuition will be fully covered, and you’ll be admitted directly into the Royal Project!”

Not to be outdone, the admissions officer from Lunarcrest squeezed forward.

“Madeline Morton, Lunarcrest can offer you the same! Full tuition, plus a $100,000 enrollment award!”

The admissions officer from Silverhowl immediately handed me a business card.

“Madeline Morton, Silverhowl will waive your tuition, award you a full scholarship of $1 million, and offer you a summer exchange program to train in the Lycan Territory!”

The three of them surrounded me, each trying to outdo the others.

Mom stood frozen where she was, her face pale, “When did you find out you were an SSS-ranked Golden Wolf?”

I turned to look at her, “Do you really care?”

She had never expected me to speak to her that way. For a moment, she was too stunned to respond.

Clara suddenly stepped in front of Mom, “Madeline, how can you talk to Mom like that? She cares about you!”

Her eyes were red, and her chest rose and fell with emotion, “She really cares about you!”

I looked at her. At her flushed face. At the fists she had clenched so tightly. At the jealousy she couldn’t quite hide in her eyes.

I let out a quiet laugh, “She cares about me? She doesn’t even know when I had my first shift. What kind of concern is that?”

The crowd immediately began whispering among themselves.

“Oh my Goddess. Luna doesn’t even know when her own daughter had her first shift?”

“Look at what she’s wearing. Isn’t that a waitress’s uniform?”

“And look at the younger daughter. That outfit must be worth at least a million.”

“They didn’t treat their older daughter like family at all.”

“The favoritism is unbelievable.”

Every comment landed like a loud slap across their faces.

Thomas’s parents reacted first. Luna Margaret hurried over and grabbed my hand.

“Madeline, I knew you were extraordinary. You’re actually an SSS-ranked Golden Wolf! No wonder I’ve always liked you. I’ve always hoped you’d become our pack’s future Luna.”

“Didn’t you always want to attend Royal Fang? Once you’re there, you and Thomas can look after each other.”

I gently pulled my hand away, “Luna Margaret. A few minutes ago, you were holding Clara’s hand and saying the exact same thing.”

The smile on her face froze, “The one you like isn’t me. You only care about whoever happens to be the SSS-ranked Golden Wolf.”

Then I turned to Thomas, “Besides, the person your son wants to attend Royal Fang with isn’t me. It’s Clara.”

Watching everything unfold, Clara dug her fingernails into her palms.

She bit down hard on her lip before suddenly turning and running away.

As she ran, she shouted hysterically, “Madeline, why do you always have to be better than me at everything? If that’s the case, I don’t want to live anymore! I’m going to jump off this building!”

The moment Mom and the others heard her, their expressions changed.

They immediately chased after her, surrounded her, and began desperately trying to calm her down.

William looked at me, his expression turning stern, “Madeline. As your Alpha, this is my order.”

“You’ll stay with Clara and repeat the year together.”
