HURRICANE! She Begged My Brother to Save Her—This Time, I Said No Chapter 03
My eyes suddenly burned.
This time, I wouldn’t let Tyler or anyone in my family get hurt again.
But the next morning, just as I arrived at the office, someone shouted from upstairs,
“Something happened! Chloe’s going to jump!”
I’d heard those exact same words in my last life.
My head buzzed.
I nearly lost my balance.
Still disoriented, I followed the crowd up to the rooftop.
The wind still hadn’t died down, and rainwater streamed along the guardrails.
The same familiar scene appeared before me again.
Chloe stood at the edge of the roof, her skirt suit badly wrinkled.
She clutched a bundle of torn fabric in one hand.
The instant her eyes locked on me in the crowd, tears spilled down her face.
“Natalie, look what Tyler did!”
Chloe raised the underwear, which had been shredded into strips.
“Natalie, I really didn’t want to make a scene.”
“But every time I close my eyes, all I can see is what happened last night.”
“I’m so scared! Your brother destroyed my life!”
The murmurs around us grew louder.
More and more people began giving me strange looks.
Marcus’s expression turned grim.
“Natalie, where is your brother?”
Without saying a word, I pulled out my phone and called Tyler.
“Natalie?”
I switched the call to speaker.
“Where are you?”
“I’m at home.”
“Did you leave the house last night?”
Tyler paused.
“No. I did exactly what you told me. I stayed in my room all night.”
Chloe jerked her head up.
“You’re lying!”
She sobbed into the phone.
“You were the one who came to pick me up last night! You were wearing a black jacket and driving an off-road SUV!”
She sobbed so hard she could barely catch her breath.
Marcus knitted his brows.
“Natalie, tell your brother to come here immediately.”
“We’re getting to the bottom of this today.”
Fifteen minutes later.
Tyler appeared at the rooftop entrance.
When he saw Chloe sobbing so hard she seemed close to fainting, he panicked.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about. I stayed in my room playing video games all night.”
As if she’d been subjected to some unbearable humiliation, Chloe screamed hysterically,
“You’re lying!”
“It was you!”
“You were wearing a black jacket and driving an off-road SUV! You said Natalie talked tough but was softhearted, and that she’d sent you to pick me up after all. That’s why I agreed to get in your car!”
Tears welled up again.
“I’m a respectable woman. Why would I risk my reputation just to frame you?”
My coworkers looked at Tyler and me with even more contempt.
“That’s rich kids for you. He did something like that and still has the nerve to deny it to everyone’s face.”
“He’s completely out of control. Someone needs to investigate his family’s company.”
“I bet he’s done this before. What an animal.”
Tyler panicked.
“It wasn’t me!”
“I was livestreaming my game all night! I have someone who can prove it!”
“If you don’t believe me, ask…”
Before he could finish, Chloe burst into louder sobs.
“Natalie’s your sister! Of course she’d take your side!”
She gasped between cries.
“Wasn’t being assaulted enough? And now you’re trying to make me look like the liar?”
“Are you trying to push me to my death before you’ll be satisfied?”
Seeing her sob like that, the crowd erupted.
“This is unbelievable! You think you can bully a young woman just because she has no one to rely on?”
“You hurt her, then turn around and accuse her? Is there no justice anymore?”
Several furious male coworkers clenched their fists and moved toward Tyler.
“Enough talking. Let’s beat him up and get justice for Chloe!”
I was about to stop them when a familiar voice came from behind me.
“Don’t touch him!”
I turned around.
Mom and Dad hurried onto the rooftop.
