My Boyfriend’s Childhood Sweetheart Cursed Me?It All Came Back Chapter 03
I felt the hostility. Sharp. Clear.
I glanced at Celine. She was staring at the floor.
Ethan was right here. I wanted him to see where that “unknown force” really came from.
I took his hand and pulled him down beside me.
“No matter what happens,” I said softly, “I’m staying with you.”
Celine’s smile nearly cracked. A vein pulsed in her temple. But she forced it.
“Wow. You really love him. I’m so moved.”
Then she added, “But Stella, I heard this hospital has had problems with patients from the psychiatric ward wandering out and attacking people. You should be careful.”
Ethan snapped: “Celine. The security here is fine. That’s not happening.”
Celine covered her mouth and giggled. “Okay, okay. Just saying.”
After she left, I told Ethan: “That patient she mentioned is coming.”
He blinked. “It was just a joke. Don’t take it seriously.”
I shook my head. “Ethan. I told you before—every bad thing that happened around you, it’s because of her. Whatever she says out loud comes true.”
“If you don’t believe me, wait and see tonight.”
Something in my eyes made him pause. He tensed up.
That night, he drank three cups of coffee and forced himself to stay awake.
Dawn came. No psych patient.
He relaxed. Laughed it off.
I kept frowning.
Not last night?
In the morning, the doctor checked me out. Cleared me for discharge.
Ethan went to handle the paperwork. I stayed behind to pack.
Half way through packing, I heard a soft click behind me.
I turned and found a strange man standing in the doorway.
He was wearing a hospital gown, drool shining at he corner of his mouth, his vacant smile fixed on me as he stepped closer.
A bright blade glinted in his hand.
“Hehehe… little sweetheart… wanna be my friend?”
I swallowed.
Backed up. My spine hit the wall. No way out.
I steadied my voice. Kept him calm. Said things that made him happy. Tried to get him to put the knife down.
It was working. He was about to set it on the bed.
Then the door burst open.
Celine stood in the doorway, screaming: “Oh my god! A psych patient is attacking Stella! Help! Someone help!”
I cursed under my breath.
Her shrill voice triggered him. He lunged at me—knife to my throat.
“I’M NOT CRAZY! I’M NOT! Shut her up or I’ll kill her!”
The blade bit into my neck. Sharp. Hot blood trickled down my collar.
I froze.
The system’s voice—mechanical, urgent.
[Warning! Warning! External threat level: 70%!]
Ethan appeared at the door. His face went white with horror.
“Ethan! What do we do?! A psycho has her hostage! We need to call the police!”
She kept saying it. Psycho. Psycho. Psycho. Fueling him. She knew exactly what she was doing.
The blade sank deeper.
I couldn’t move. I shot Ethan a look—he got it.
Before Celine could speak again, he clamped a hand over her mouth and yanked her out.
Without her noise, I went back to calming him.
“I know you’re not sick. I want to be your friend. But can we talk face to face, please?”
He hesitated. I kept talking. Slow. Gentle.
Finally—he pulled the knife away.
I stepped back. The doctors rushed in and restrained him.
