My Boyfriend’s Childhood Sweetheart Cursed Me?It All Came Back Chapter 04

Ethan ran to me. Checked my wound.

An inch deeper, and it would’ve hit my artery.

His eyes were red.

“My fault,” he whispered. “I should’ve been more careful.”

I took his hand and whispered back:

“Now you know I wasn’t making it up.”

He froze. The memories—every coincidence, every accident—flooded back.

His whole body went cold.

“I’m confronting her.”

I held him back. I couldn’t tell him about the system. So I said:

“She’ll get what she deserves. If she keeps using this power, it’ll backfire.”

70% threat level. One more curse from her, and the Rebound System would trigger.

Then it’d be her turn to suffer.

A few days later.

Celine threw a party to celebrate her return. A bunch of friends.

Ethan didn’t want me to go—worried she’d try something. But she specifically asked for me. And their mutual friends were all there. I didn’t want to come off as difficult.

Besides—I can’t avoid her forever.

The moment we walked in, people started cheering. Some faces I knew. Some I didn’t.

“Late! Three shots as punishment!” they shouted.

Ethan downed my share for me.

Everyone teased him about how protective he was.

Celine smiled, too. But it didn’t reach her eyes.

A guy laughed and asked Ethan: “Man, honestly, back in the day we all thought you and Celine would end up together.”

Ethan didn’t flinch. “She’s like a sister to me.”

Celine’s face tensed. Her eyes dropped—dark.

Later, Ethan got a call. Looked urgent. He hesitated, glanced at me. I waved him off, and he stepped out.

The moment he left, Celine turned to me.

I was drinking juice. She smiled coldly.

“I heard someone spiked a drink with something nasty at a bar once—totally humiliated herself in public. Stella, your drink looks off. You sure no one slipped anything in?”

I stopped mid-swallow. Heat shot through me. Everywhere.

The glass slipped. Shattered.

I hit the floor. My skin was turning pink.

Celine smiled. “James, Stella doesn’t look so good. Go check on her.”

A guy walked over. Grinning.

Damn it!

He was with her.

I tried to stand. No strength.

He grabbed my arm—pulled me close.

My body was burning. I wanted to lean into him. I couldn’t stop it.

Celine’s smile spread.

Then—an alarm.

Jarring. Loud.

[Warning! Warning! External source located. Threat level: 100%. Rebound System Activated!]

The door slammed open. Ethan stormed in, shoved the guy off me, and pulled me into his arms.

He’d had enough.

“Celine!” he shouted. “If you ever use that twisted power on Stella again, I will make you pay.”

Celine went white.

The room was silent. Everyone confused.

She stared at me in his arms—and finally dropped the act.

“Ethan, I have no idea what you’re talking about.”

Then, to me:

“But Stella, I saw on the news—there’s this rapist, just got out of prison. Already attacked two women. You’re gorgeous. Hope he doesn’t find you.”

The moment her words landed, a voice echoed in my head.

[Ding! Curse rebounded successfully!]
