Faked Amnesia, Real Luna Revenge Chapter 04
Louis handed me two pizzas and tried to sound casual as he comforted me.
“You’ve been with Alpha for years. Have you ever seen him with another woman? Him suddenly falling out of love just doesn’t add up.”
I pressed my lips together, still doubtful. “Did he really lose his memory?”
Louis nodded quickly. “Probably temporary amnesia. There’s some internal bleeding in his head. Once it clears, he should remember everything.”
“But he remembers Sansa.”
Louis shrugged. “I think his memory’s just mixed up. He probably mistook that little secretary for you.”
I frowned. “We don’t even look alike. Our personalities aren’t alike either.”
Louis smiled flatteringly. “She can’t compare to you, Luna. She’s just better at acting sweet, that’s all.”
“Did you tell Joey I’m his Luna?” I asked.
“I did,” Louis said helplessly. “But you know his temper. He’s stubborn and dominant. He doesn’t listen to anyone.”
He hesitated, then added, “And… he really hates hearing your name right now. Every time it comes up, he gets upset. He’s a patient, so I have to keep his mood stable.”
I looked down at the two pizza boxes in my hands. They felt as heavy as my heart.
Louis continued, “Actually, Alpha once told me he hoped you’d comfort him sometimes. Maybe that’s still buried in his subconscious. That’s why he’s drawn to gentle, considerate types now. Maybe he’s hinting that you should… soften a little.”
Comfort him? I froze.
I remembered how, whenever Joey and I argued in the past, he was always the one who ended up coaxing me.
“Misty, don’t be too sad,” Louis added gently. “I’m a doctor. I can promise you he’ll remember sooner or later.”
“As for that secretary, she’s just a temporary distraction while he’s sick. Once his memory comes back, it’ll be over. You don’t need to take it to heart.”
“Will he really remember?” My heart softened despite myself.
Taking Louis’s advice, I followed cooking videos on my phone all morning and managed to make a few passable dishes. I packed them into containers and brought them to the hospital.
But when I pushed open the ward door, I froze.
The two people on the bed were wrapped around each other, kissing deeply. Sansa had her legs hooked around Joey’s waist.
In that instant, everything inside me turned cold.
They noticed me.
Sansa flushed and quickly pushed Joey away, scrambling off the bed and fixing her clothes. “Miss Welch, why didn’t you knock?”
I stared at her lips, red and wet. And at Joey, his eyes dark, heavy with desire. That look used to belong only to me.
Now he was sharing it with another woman. I felt like I couldn’t breathe.
“Disgusting,” my wolf hissed inside me.
The air in the room made me nauseous.
I didn’t go in. I didn’t say a single word. I turned around and walked away.
Downstairs, I ran into Louis and Declan.
“Luna, you came to see Joey again,” Louis said with a grin as he walked over.
When he saw my red eyes, he raised a brow. “Did Joey upset you again?”
I wiped my face and gave a tired, quiet “Mm,” not wanting to tell anyone what I had just seen.
Louis noticed the food containers in my hands and quickly changed the subject. “You brought him food?”
Before I could react, he took them from me. When he saw the bandage on my finger, his eyes widened. “Luna, did you make this yourself?”
I nodded after steadying my emotions.
“Then I’ll take it up for you,” he said eagerly, motioning for Declan to come along.
They walked a few steps before Louis noticed the other man hadn’t followed. He turned around. “Declan, what are you staring at?”
“Nothing.”
Declan’s eyes were dark as he watched the long, strong legs disappear down the corridor. Only when her slender figure vanished from sight did he slowly look away and continue walking.
