Faked Amnesia, Real Luna Revenge Chapter 07
When I opened my eyes again, I was in the Pack hospital. Aside from some dizziness and a dull ache in my head, my body felt fine.
After removing the IV, the nurse said gently, “Your mate stayed here all night last night. He was really worried about you.”
“He just stepped out a moment ago. He should be back soon.”
I nodded softly, my gaze empty as I stared at the harsh sunlight pouring in through the window, feeling a little disoriented.
The nurse picked up her metal tray and headed out. As she opened the door, she stopped, glanced at the tall, handsome man standing there, then turned back to me with a smile.
“Miss, your mate went to get you breakfast.”
Mate. The word pierced straight through my heart.
I looked up and saw Declan. He closed the door and walked in with the food.
He was alone.
He moved with quiet elegance as he came to my bedside. When he looked down at me, I looked back at him, my thoughts hazy and confused.
“Are you feeling uncomfortable anywhere?” he asked.
His low voice carried genuine concern. I shook my head.
He was dressed simply in black, yet authority seemed etched into his presence. Even without knowing who he was, anyone could tell he was not an ordinary man.
And with his height and sharp features, my heart started racing.
Remembering the way the nurse had looked at him earlier, I glanced at his broad shoulders and narrow hips. Something stirred in me. I smiled sweetly.
“You’re my mate?” I said. “Don’t worry, I’m fine.”
Declan had just set the breakfast on the bedside table. At my words, his body stiffened. He turned to me, brows drawn tight.
“What did you call me?”
I blinked and tested the word again. “Mate?”
His frown deepened. He studied me for a moment, then reached out and pressed the call button by the bed.
The doctor and nurse arrived quickly to examine me. Declan stepped outside with the doctor while I ate my breakfast.
He kept glancing back at me, at my wide, trusting eyes, then at the injury on my forehead. If I hadn’t lost my memory, I would never look at him with such dependence and trust.
When he returned, I jumped out of bed and threw myself into his arms, hugging him tightly.
“Baby, did I scare you yesterday?”
Declan stiffened slightly. He looked down at me as if he wanted to say something, but in the end, he couldn’t help himself. He wrapped his arms around me and gave a low, quiet hum.
“I’m sorry for worrying you,” I said softly. “I’ll be more careful from now on.”
Then I stood on my toes and kissed him on the cheek. He suddenly pushed me away.
I thought I had gone too far and made him uncomfortable, but I caught the flash of red creeping up his ears.
Itt’s a very noticeable red.
Declan avoided my eyes. He reached into his pocket, pulled out a cigarette and lighter, then seemed to remember where he was.
“I… I have some things at the company,” he said stiffly. “I need to take care of them.”
I nodded obediently. “Go ahead, honey. I’ll be good and wait for you here.”
At the word honey, his face flushed even hotter. Yet he still didn’t tell me the truth.
I stayed in the hospital for a full week.
Once the scab on my forehead healed and the doctor confirmed there were no major issues, I was discharged.
I sat in Declan’s car, watching as he drove in the opposite direction of my home, but I didn’t say anything.
He took me to his place.
A spacious apartment overlooking Dragon Lake, located in one of the most valuable areas on the wolf continent.
Joey had once talked about buying a place here, wanting to be Declan’s neighbor. But the residents were all ancient noble Alphas, powerful and influential.
Even though Joey was the Alpha of Stonehowl Pack, in their eyes he was merely the leader of a small pack, not worth acknowledging.
They refused to sell him a unit.
For a while, Joey had been in a terrible mood because of it. Even at dinner, he was constantly trying to pull strings. We had argued over it.
I believed a home just needed to be warm and convenient. Spending that much money wasn’t worth it.
But Joey believed living here was a symbol of status.
I looked at the sunset spreading over Dragon Lake. It was breathtaking.
“Do you want to rest for a bit?” Declan asked.
He wrapped his arms around me from behind.
The crisp, familiar scent of fir filled my senses, making my heart itch. I pulled his hands away, turned around, rose onto my toes, and kissed him.
Something dark surged in Declan’s eyes. He paused for only a second before gripping the back of my head and taking control.
We had kissed many times during those hospital days. He had gone from awkward and restrained to practiced and eager.
Every nerve in my body trembled under his skilled, deliberate teasing.
He pressed me down onto the living room couch.
Just as I thought I was about to succeed, a phone vibrating abruptly shattered the intimate atmosphere.
Declan lifted his head from my collarbone, the corners of his eyes flushed red. Storms raged in his dark gaze. One hand braced above me while the other pulled out his phone.
He glanced at the number and started to sit up.
I hooked my arms around his neck again and settled myself onto his lap.
“Honey, don’t go.”
His lower body tensed, but he didn’t push me away.
