Faked Amnesia, Real Luna Revenge Chapter 06

I was about to reply that I was already asleep when another message came through.

[Joey and Louis are here too. Your mate seems a little drunk. Do you want to come take him home?]

The pain of betrayal shattered moments ago suddenly felt insignificant the instant I saw Joey’s name.

My wolf, Mina, was screaming inside me, “No. Do not go. Stop caring about that cheating bastard. Do not let him trample you again, Misty.”

But I ignored her. Mina crashed around inside me, so violently that my bones ached, yet I stubbornly locked her away.

All I felt was a flicker of hope returning. I replied to Declan: [Okay.]

“Misty’s been with you for years, Joey. How long do you plan to play around with that little secretary?”

Louis’s voice drifted out through the crack in the door, stopping me in my tracks just as I was about to enter the room.

“Another month,” Joey said.

“A month, and your memory magically comes back?”

Louis’s teasing tone reached my ears like a blade gleaming with cold light, stabbing straight into my heart.

My whole body went cold. I stared at the man inside, disbelief filling my eyes.

He sat on the couch with his legs spread, a glass of red wine in his hand, elegant and composed.

He looked exactly like the Joey who once loved me desperately. Yet he said calmly, “I might as well switch things up again.”

“Go ahead,” Louis said meaningfully. “While you’re ‘amnesiac,’ you can try a few more. No one can control you anyway.”

I gripped the door handle so hard that blood rushed to my head, fury burning through me.

Declan suddenly glanced in my direction, and our eyes met.

My heart jumped. I was about to push the door open and confront them when Declan casually looked away and said, “If you do not want anyone controlling you, you can always break the mate bond.”

My hand froze on the door.

“That would be pretty low, bro,” Declan added.

Joey looked at Declan and said seriously, “I am not planning to change my mate.”

Then he added quickly, “I love Misty.” Hearing the word love made me feel sick to my stomach.

“If you love her, why lie to her?”

Joey had always gotten along well with Declan and did not take the question as an accusation. He thought for a moment, then answered honestly.

“Like Louis said, eating the same dish for ten years straight, no matter how much you like it, you get tired of it.”

“I’m the same. Misty is the she wolf I love most, but she’s almost thirty now. She can’t compare to girls in their early twenties. They’re better in bed, more fun, more variety. Once you’ve tried it, you realize younger is better.”

“I really envy you and Louis. Still single after all this time.”

I could not believe my ears. Those words came out of Joey’s mouth.

The man inside looked nothing like the gentle, refined mate I remembered.

How could he be so vile? I did not push the door open.

I went downstairs and got into my car, tears already pouring down my face.

Memories flooded my mind. The life I thought was happy and perfect had already rotted from the inside.

Even the mate who was once so loving and tender was filthy at his core.

More than twenty years. We had known each other for more than twenty years.

How could he hurt me like this?

At the red light at an intersection, I gripped the steering wheel tightly, unable to calm down.

The more I thought about it, the more it hurt.

It felt like countless needles stabbing into my body.

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a green light flash. Without thinking, I pressed the accelerator out of habit.

A large truck suddenly turned toward me. I jerked the wheel, and with a loud crash, the car slammed into the flowerbed on the side of the road.

Before my consciousness faded into darkness, I vaguely saw the figure of a man running toward me in panic.
