Faked Amnesia, Real Luna Revenge Chapter 08

I caught sight of the number on his screen and grew bolder.

Declan grabbed my hand, his breath hot and uneven. His voice dropped low and rough. “Let me answer this.”

I stayed still. Only then did he pick up the call.

“What is it?” he asked coldly.

“Declan, we…”

“I don’t have time.”

“You haven’t shown up in days. Something’s off. Don’t tell me you…”

“BooBoo, I’m hungry.”

The voice on the other end froze.

Then came a sharp gasp. “Declan, when did you get a woman?”

Declan hung up immediately. The other party didn’t call back.

He studied me with sharp, predatory eyes.

I wasn’t guilty at all. I puffed up angrily. “After work is my time. You’re not allowed to go fool around.”

In a private room, Louis lowered his phone. Someone beside him immediately asked, “Does Declan have a mate?”

Louis nodded, staring at the screen with a furrowed brow.

“Luna?” Joey asked.

Everyone shook their heads. No one had heard anything.

Declan’s wolf was powerful and noble, yet no female had ever caught his interest.

For years, people thought he was cold by nature. Maybe it was just for fun.

Joey didn’t take it seriously. “Call someone else over.”

Louis gripped his phone, silent. Someone nudged him. “What’s wrong with you?”

Louis looked up at Joey. “That woman’s voice sounded familiar.”

“Like Luna’s.”

But he didn’t dare say it out loud.

Someone asked in surprise, “You know her?”

Joey scoffed. “Just a toy. What does it matter?”

Louis thought about it, then agreed. He quickly called someone else.

I thought bringing me home meant something would finally happen.

Instead, for an entire month, all I could do was stare at his lean waist and imagine what lay beneath his shirt. Those defined lines, those abs, the occasional heat in his eyes made my mouth water.

I had been faithful to Joey for years. Even months without intimacy hadn’t shaken me.

But once I realized Joey had cheated, that moral restraint disappeared.

He faked amnesia to cheat on me. Why should I stay loyal?

Those stolen moments with Declan only fueled the fire inside me. Yet every time, he stopped short.

Even when he was clearly at his limit, he would just pat my head, fasten my bra, stand up, and close the bedroom door behind him.

That night, he stayed in the bathroom for a long time before coming out.

I knew he had taken a cold shower. I could feel the chill clinging to him.

I sensed that, deep down, he was still holding back because of Joey.

And I wanted revenge. I knew I had to act fast.

Otherwise, where would I ever find a man like this again?

If I was going to cheat, it had to be with someone better than Joey. That was the only way it would hurt him.

After Declan went to work, I stayed home alone, bored out of my mind.

Aside from scrolling through my phone, there was nothing else to do.

When a text came in, I was already restless. [Miss Welch, would you be willing to meet and talk?]

I recognized the number. The memory of that video made disgust and suppressed anger surge again.

I knew exactly what they wanted.

I replied with a simple [Okay.]

After they sent the time and place, I texted Declan on my way out.
