The Christmas Prank That Ended Us Chapter 04
My parents were overjoyed.
They praised me for finally becoming more mature and understanding.
That night, while I was packing my luggage, Garrett came to my room.
He looked relieved as well.
“These past few days, I’ve been struggling with whether I should continue with this engagement.”
“You have a bad temper, and you’re too timid… You even take Serena’s childish pranks so seriously.”
“But seeing that you prepared a gift for Serena, I’ve decided to continue this relationship and make you my future Luna.”
My hands froze.
I looked at him in disbelief, “So all this time, you and Serena were pranking me to test me?”
He didn’t deny it.
“A woman who can’t even tolerate her own sister is not someone I would feel comfortable letting manage my pack in the future.”
After saying that, Garrett left with a satisfied expression.
On the day of the engagement party, Serena repeatedly reminded me before leaving.
“Sis, you have to take the white car.”
My parents agreed.
“Serena drove that car out early this morning just to wash it and decorate it for you. Don’t disappoint her effort.”
I smiled and nodded.
But in reality, I had no intention of going to the engagement party at all.
After my family and Garrett left in another black car, I carried my luggage and walked out of the house.
Before leaving, I deliberately went to the parking lot to check Serena’s designated white car.
Three of the four tires had visible scratches.
If I drove that car to the engagement party, the consequences would have been unimaginable.
Thinking about it, I couldn’t help but shiver. Then I turned around without hesitation and got into a taxi heading away from my home.
Meanwhile, at the engagement party, my parents were welcoming pack members and guests.
To satisfy Serena’s twisted sense of humor, they had specially invited everyone who knew Jasmine.
From my kindergarten classmates to the owner of the pack café I had only met once, everyone would be there to watch Serena’s carefully prepared prank video.
Garrett glanced at his watch.
There were only three minutes left before the show began.
He leaned closer to Serena and whispered, “Are you sure the car is fine? What if Jasmine doesn’t make it here?”
Serena smiled confidently.
“Relax. Even if she gets into an accident, she’ll crawl here crying and begging to join the party.”
Then she gave a mysterious smile.
“Do you know why I’ve had the confidence to prank her for more than twenty years?”
Garrett turned to her, “Why?”
“Because I grew up beside Mom and Dad. She wasn’t brought to live with them until she was five.”
“She has always wanted their love. She spent her whole life trying to please Mom, Dad, and you. So even if she was bullied until she couldn’t stand anymore, she would still crawl back happily.”
Serena was completely certain.
After all, that was how Jasmine had always been for all these years.
But ten minutes after the engagement party began, everyone was already seated. And Jasmine still hadn’t appeared.
My parents asked Beta Ken and finally learned that the damaged white car had never even left the pack house driveway.
Serena quickly opened the family surveillance system.
The house was completely empty.
Garrett made countless phone calls. Every single one went unanswered.
As he anxiously searched for me, he happened to run into my former superior, who was holding an invitation with the pack emblem and looking confused.
“That’s strange. Didn’t Jasmine get transferred to Santorini for work?”
“Why would she suddenly be holding an engagement party?”
Before Garrett could react, the giant screen above the engagement stage suddenly flickered to life.
“Wait… what is that?”
The guest’s confused voice cut through the music.
One by one, everyone turned toward the screen. Then the first image appeared.
My mother’s smile vanished.
My father went completely pale.
And Serena froze as if she had just seen a ghost.
“Oh…no.”
