The Christmas Prank That Ended Us Chapter 03
The moment Garrett had suggested letting Serena arrange our engagement party, I had already sensed something was wrong.
But my parents repeatedly reassured me.
“Jasmine, an engagement and a wedding mark are both once-in-a-lifetime events. We would never let Serena fool around at such an important occasion.”
Garrett had also persuaded me several times.
“Serena only wants to help you with the details of the engagement party. She wants you to become the most beautiful future bride and the future Luna of our pack.”
Only then did I finally agree.
While my whole family went shopping with Serena, I took out the USB drive hidden in my drawer.
The one labeled: [Jasmine’s Happy Memories.]
I plugged it into my computer.
The moment I opened the video, a familiar snickering sound came through.
Hearing those familiar voices, a cold sweat broke out along my back.
In the video, my parents and Serena took turns persuading twelve-year-old me to finish my birthday cake.
I held a lump of black and white paste in my mouth and carefully asked, “Mom, Dad, what is this cake made of? I really can’t eat anymore.”
After I finished it, ten-year-old Serena’s face turned red from holding back laughter.
Then she burst into loud laughter, “It’s cow dung and maggots, you idiot! My sister was so hungry that she could eat anything!”
Watching me desperately stick my fingers into my throat to make myself throw up, my parents laughed so hard they could barely hold their phones.
The entire video shook because they were laughing uncontrollably.
Then the next video appeared.
The scene where I woke up to find a snake in my bed and fainted immediately.
The scene where I was locked in the pack basement and was so terrified that I lost control of myself.
The scene where Serena exposed my diary about secretly liking the Alpha from the neighboring pack, causing everyone to call me a “gold digger” for three years.
The ugliest, most humiliating, and most unbearable moments of my life had all been collected by Serena into a prank compilation, complete with special sound effects.
And it was going to be played in front of all our relatives and friends at my happiest moment, my engagement party.
My parents knew. Garrett knew too.
My hands and feet turned cold. A wave of nausea surged through my stomach.
I couldn’t hold it back anymore. I rushed into the bathroom and vomited uncontrollably.
After I finally calmed down, I dragged myself back to the computer.
I deleted the videos one by one. Then I replaced them with the recording video I had prepared.
When my family returned from shopping, my parents waved at me.
“The engagement dress is back. Try it on.”
I carefully took the dress from them.
Serena scoffed and rolled her eyes, “What are you pretending to be so careful for? Do you have some kind of persecution complex? You act like everyone is trying to hurt you.”
I didn’t respond. I only looked at my parents.
“Mom, Dad, do you truly want me to be happy?”
My parents froze for a moment. Then they smiled.
“Silly girl, what are you talking about?”
“Games are just games. Do you really think we don’t love you?”
They held my hands, acting as if they had no idea about tomorrow’s prank.
Garrett walked over and wrapped an arm around my waist.
“Alright. Serena has always been like this. If you really don’t like it, then as your future brother-in-law, I’ll keep an eye on her in the future.”
Garrett brushed everything aside with a casual sentence.
I pretended not to notice the excitement passing between the four of them, the anticipation in their eyes as they waited to see me embarrass myself.
Without making a sound, I removed Garrett’s hand from my waist.
“Thank you, Mom, Dad, and Serena.”
“As my favorite family members, I also have a gift I want to give you on the day of my engagement party.”
