After I Became Pretty Chapter 10

After I Became Pretty Chapter 10

“She posted her entire weight loss process.”

“What’s your excuse now, Seren?”

“You’re just jealous she landed a rich boyfriend. You’re like a rat in the gutter.”

“Elara’s genuinely kind—she lost weight and still wants to help others do it the right way.”

The world was nothing if not predictable.

From that day on, wherever I went on campus, people gravitated toward me.

Some even fought over the seat next to me.

People stopped me for my number.

Offered me snacks. Recharged my meal card without asking.

In the library, someone would give up their seat just for me.

But I stayed the same. Focused on class.

Kept my old friends close—the ones who’d stuck by me when I was heavy.

Seren, on the other hand, had completely fallen from grace.

Everyone knew she’d tried to sabotage me and steal my boyfriend.

She went from being adored to being ignored.

It only made her hate me more.

Every time she saw me, her face twisted with jealousy.

She’d watch me from corners and mutter under her breath.

“Just wait. She’ll gain it all back.”

“This is all a facade. She’ll be exposed soon enough.”

This time, even the comments didn’t take her side.

Because I’d turned exercise and healthy eating into a permanent part of my life.

I ran. I hit the gym.

My weight stabilized.

My hormones leveled out.

I wasn’t just thinner—I was healthier.

Dorian, meanwhile, was drowning in insecurity.

He started working out too. “If I get fat and ugly, someone else will steal you away.”

He sent me money constantly.

“My baby deserves the best of everything!”

“I work so you can spend it—spending it means you love me.”

Not long after, Seren received an official cease-and-desist.

She was taken in by police.

She got a record, had to issue a public apology, and pay damages.

She dragged her feet, refusing to post it—until the court forced it through.

It even made the news.

The school gave her a warning after reviewing her record.

With everyone whispering behind her back, she couldn’t take it anymore.

She took a year off and slunk back home.

I felt nothing for her.

She’d made my college life miserable since day one.

If I hadn’t been mentally strong enough, she might have broken me.

But now—all that was behind me.

Life was sunny.

I had people who truly loved me.

Six months into my relationship with Dorian, I introduced him to my grandparents.

We visited my parents’ graves together.

He stood there and made a promise:

“I’ll take care of her for you.

She’ll be the happiest girl in the world.”

If my parents could see me now—I think they’d be proud.
