On Graduation Day, He Pushed Me Aside For Her Chapter 07

“I had no idea the SAT demand from universities in Boston. Ivy’s scores qualify her for an Ivy League university in Seattle, but if she’d gone to Boston with you, she’d barely get into a state university. You had no right to ruin her future like this.”

Panic finally washed over Patrick Muller. “I love Ivy more than anything. She is my girlfriend. You are not aware?”

Mom looked disgusted now. She pointed straight at Gloria. “You’re dating my daughter? Then who is this young lady?”

Gloria held a breath and took a step back.

Mom turned to Patrick again, pressing him with harsher questions one after another.

“This lady showed up at your place all summer long from dawn till dusk. You cooked for her, shared takeout with her, and sorted out her college applications down to the smallest detail.”

“But when it came to Ivy, you called it a hassle. I would never believe that Ivy is your love, not her.”

Patrick opened his mouth but could not utter a single word in reply.

Mom shut the door. “Patrick Muller, you’re forbidden to see Ivy again.”

She heard nothing from outside for a few seconds.

Patrick stumbled away in a daze. Gloria trailed behind and was about to comfort him when he suddenly dropped his suitcase and flagged down a cab.

Her face fell, and she hurried after him. “Where are you going,
Patrick?”

His eyes turned red, his voice trembling. “To find Ivy and win her back.”

With that, he climbed into the taxi without sparing Gloria so much as a glance.

When I first arrived in Seattle, things could be hard. It was like a whole other world with the accent, climate, and streets.

But on my first day, my dorm mate took me out to have lobsters before heading to Pike Place Market and Magnolia Viewpoint.

She was incredibly welcoming, taking me to buy beddings just because I said that.

I wandered around the city with them for hours loaded down with shopping bags, and for the first time, I realized life could be bright and lively even without Patrick Muller by my side.

As we returned to the campus, some girls nearby whispered like, “that guy is cute. Do you think he’s waiting for someone?”

I followed their sight and regretted to do so.

Patrick stood right at the street, still wearing the same clothes he’d had on the day he came to my house. He looked haggard and worn out.

I turned to walk around him, but he sprinted after me with his emotional expression.

“Ivy Anderson. You can’t do this to me.”

I had managed to stay calm up until that moment, yet an urge to cry was uncontrollable. “What exactly have I done to you?”

“I’m rightful staying away from someone slandering me and tearing up my letter of acceptance.” I said that after a cold laugh.

He looked pale, and it took him a long moment to speak. “I thought you’d hidden Gloria’s letter on purpose to get back at me. I lost my head in the heat of the moment…”

He trailed off, then tried to justify his actions. “Besides, a torn admission letter isn’t the end of the world. Nothing happens as you could came here.”

I stared at him and felt uncomfortable. “Right, nothing truly happens. If that’s the case, why were you so frantic and desperate on Gloria’s behalf when her letter went missing?”

Patrick Muller was left speechless.

I turned to leave, but expected no grip from him like now.
