On Graduation Day, He Pushed Me Aside For Her Chapter 06

“I don’t know anything!”

“One.”

“I just got off the plane and picked up my letter. The surveillance or my mom could prove me.”

“Two.”

“Patrick Muller, I’m begging you…”

Without the slightest hesitation, Patrick Muller tore my letter into pieces. Shredded scraps drifted down and scattered at my feet.

Looking at all the fragments, I was too stunned to even cry.

Patrick was about to speak when a hesitant voice drifted over from behind him.

“Patrick, are you looking for this?”

His family’s housekeeper stood in the doorway holding a letter of acceptance. “I brought this back earlier but forgot to tell you.” Gloria stopped crying immediately.

Patrick whipped his head to me, his lips parting as if he wanted to say something.

I did not give him the chance. I bent down to collect the torn pieces, clutching them tightly. Then I stepped back into my place and slammed the door.

No sound came from outside, not a single word of apology.

The next day, he slipped a flight order bound for Boston under the door, weighted down by a handwritten note. “Come with me.”

He had always been convinced that if he offered a small olive branch, I would cave and run back to him just as I had every single time before.

But now, I wouldn’t bother checking it before tossing it in the trash. Two days ahead of schedule, I packed my suitcases and left for Seattle.

Another two days later, Patrick showed up at my front door with Gloria in tow. He hauled his luggage along with an unusual light mood. “Mrs. Taylor, we’re here picking Ivy up for Boston.”

Mom stared in shock. “Boston?”

Patrick looked confused by her reaction. “I informed her about the flight already. She’s still upset? It’s fine, I’ll wait for her to pack her things.”

Gloria spoke softly. “Auntie, if Ivy doesn’t want to see us both, I’ll come downstairs trying not to irritate her.”

Patrick glanced at her instinctively, his tone softening. “You don’t have to. She’ll come out once she realized she’s been ridiculous.”

Mom started to look harsh as she turned to him and asked, “Patrick, didn’t Ivy tell you?”

Patrick paused. “Tell me what?”

Mom gripped the doorknob and enunciated each word clearly. “She’s gone to Seattle for college two days ago.”

Patrick was shocked from head to toe. Mom went on. “To think about

the thousands miles across America, I believe she won’t be tagging along with you anymore.”

Patrick struggled with a smile. “Mrs. Taylor, you can’t be serious, right?” “Ivy promised she’d go to university in Boston with me.”

He tried to peek into my home and asked like it was an emergency. “Where is she? Still mad at us? I brought her favorite dessert for her to eat on the trip.”

He made to step inside carrying the bags, but mom blocked him. “You’ve been told. She’s gone.”

Patrick Muller froze mid-step.

Thinking about how heartbroken I had been these days, she got a harsh voice and said, “Patrick, I always thought you were a good boy.”

“But if you never had a crush on Ivy, you should have told her from the start. You’re not supposed to conceal the fact that you’ve got a girlfriend!?”

Patrick was desperate. “Mrs. Taylor. Look, it’s not like that…”

Mom cut him off sharply. “You’ve known she’s had a crush on you since childhood, and you just kept her waiting and even talking her into going to Boston.”
