He Framed Me for a Ring That Was Never Real Chapter 07

The opening-night reception for the jewelry exhibition was packed with guests and members of the press.

I wore the cocktail dress Kelsey had lent me, clipped on my press badge, and walked straight inside.

I had only one target: the Cartier display.

I ignored the pink diamond surrounded by reporters and headed straight for the regular jewelry display area.

I moved quickly along the glass cases.

It did not take long to find the ring.

It was a clean, understated platinum ring, nearly identical to Blaire’s fake.

I raised my phone and took a clear photo of the ring and the price card beside it.

The price read: $38,000.

I sent the photo to Blaire with only two words: “Look familiar?”

After sending the message, I went straight to find Kelsey.

She was talking with several content creators, and the moment she saw me, she pulled me over.

“Audrey, come meet them. These are several influential New York lifestyle creators.”

I smiled and greeted them.

After a few polite introductions, I deliberately brought up the ring.

“By the way, my husband’s cousin owns a Cartier ring that looks exactly like the one in that display. Hers is even more impressive, though. It’s supposedly a one-of-a-kind custom piece worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.”

The content creators immediately perked up.

“Seriously? Who’s your husband’s cousin? That’s incredible.”

“Her name is Blaire Morgan. She’s beautiful and very low-key,” I added casually. “My husband is Spencer Callahan. They’re cousins.”

Then I waited for them to take the bait.

These people made their living chasing headlines and engagement. There was no chance they would ignore a story like this.

Sure enough, one of the creators, a woman wearing glasses, immediately pulled out her phone and searched for “Blaire Morgan” and “Spencer Callahan.”

At that moment, my phone rang. It was Blaire.

I moved to a quiet corner and answered. She panicked the second she spoke.

“Audrey! You… you’re at the jewelry exhibition?!”

“Yeah,” I said lightly. “The rings here are gorgeous. I just told a few press contacts about your one-of-a-kind custom piece. They’re fascinated and want to interview you about your jewelry collection.”

The other end of the line went completely silent.

A few seconds later, Blaire’s voice began to shake.

“Audrey, I’m begging you! Don’t take this any further! Tell me what you want me to do. I’ll do anything!”

“It’s simple,” I told her. “Post the full truth in your family group chat. Admit the ring was fake, explain how Spencer coached you to lie, and tell them how he planted it in my jewelry box to frame me.”

“No… I can’t!”

“Then get ready to become the laughingstock of New York’s entire social scene tomorrow,” I said coldly. “You can be humiliated in front of your relatives, or mocked by hundreds of thousands of people. Your choice.”

Then I hung up.

I knew she had no other option.
