He Framed Me for a Ring That Was Never Real Chapter 08

He Framed Me for a Ring That Was Never Real Chapter 08

I did not go home right away. Instead, I sat down at a café near the Javits Center.

Kelsey texted to ask where I had gone.

I replied with four words: “Waiting for the show.”

Half an hour later, my phone, silent for so long, suddenly began vibrating nonstop.

One Callahan relative after another started calling me.

I ignored every call.

Then my mother called, and I answered.

Her voice held none of the accusation from before. All that remained was stunned panic.

“Audrey, Aunt Denise said… she said Blaire posted something in the group chat. Is it true?”

I did not answer. I hung up.

Then I opened the archived copy of the family group chat I had left long ago.

Blaire had done exactly what I demanded.

First, she posted a long confession admitting that she had lied out of vanity. She explained how Spencer had shifted the blame onto me to protect his “reputation,” manufactured evidence step by step, and finally planted a twenty-dollar flea-market knockoff in my jewelry box to frame me.

She also posted screenshots of Spencer coaching her on what to say, proving that every word was true.

The group chat flooded with messages.

Aunt Denise attacked first.

“@Spencer Get in here right now! What the hell is going on? Did you really lie to every single one of us like we were idiots?”

“You framed your own wife just to cover for one cousin’s lie, and you made me force her to apologize at Grandma’s eightieth birthday dinner?! You turned me into a joke in front of the entire family!”

The other relatives immediately turned on Spencer.

“Spencer, this is beyond cruel!”

“You actually schemed against your own wife over something like this?”

“After everything you put Audrey through, you still have the nerve to act innocent.”

Spencer did not respond.

Only after Aunt Denise called Patricia directly did he finally appear in the group chat.

“Aunt Denise, this is a private matter. Blaire was threatened into making things up. Don’t believe her.”

He was still trying to deny it.

Blaire fired back immediately.

“I wasn’t! Spencer, if you have any integrity left, admit what you did! Stop dragging me down with you! Push me again, and I’ll post the recording of you calling me that night and ordering me to delete our messages!”

This time, Spencer went completely silent.

The entire family group chat turned against him.

The same relatives who had mocked and attacked me were now tearing into Spencer without mercy.

What enraged them most was not even that he had framed me, but that he had deceived the entire family and turned every one of them into an accomplice and a fool.

I watched the messages keep coming. I felt no sense of victory, only exhaustion.

When I returned home, Spencer was already waiting for me.

The living room was wrecked, with furniture knocked out of place and belongings scattered across the floor.

He sat on the couch with his hair disheveled, several buttons of his shirt undone, and cigarette butts piled near his feet.

The moment he saw me, his head snapped up. His eyes were bloodshot.

“Are you satisfied now?” he asked hoarsely. “You destroyed my reputation and made everyone laugh at me. Does that make you happy?”

“I only cleared my name.” I looked at him calmly.

“Your innocence?! Was proving your innocence really that important?!” He shot to his feet, grabbed the ashtray, and smashed it against the floor. “You destroyed our family over your pathetic pride!”

I watched him scream, completely out of control, and finally saw the man I had once loved for exactly who he was.

He had never believed he had done anything wrong.

His only mistake was underestimating me.
