After Three Years as a Deranged Alpha’s Sedative, I Faked My Death Chapter 03

The private lounge fell silent in an instant.

Everyone looked at Adrian first, then turned toward me as if waiting for the show to begin.

He stared at the screen, his jaw tightening as the scent of fir rapidly thickened in the air.

The phone rang for a long time before he declined the call without answering.

The next second, he turned toward me, seized my chin, and forced half a glass of liquor into my mouth.

I choked and coughed uncontrollably as tears flooded my eyes and my throat felt sliced raw.

He did not let go, instead leaning close to my ear and asking loudly enough for everyone to hear, “You’re a very obedient dog, aren’t you, Erin?”

The liquor made my face flush almost instantly.

I nodded desperately and forced out an eager, submissive smile.

“Yes. I’m your dog. As long as you’re happy.”

Noah whistled beside us.

“Don’t tell me you’ve actually fallen for her. It’s been three years, and you haven’t kept another woman around. We were starting to think you planned to make her your Luna.”

Adrian reacted as though he had just heard the most ridiculous joke in the world.

He abruptly released me, leaned back against the couch, picked up a bottle of Lafite, and slowly poured it over my head.

The dark red wine ran through my hair, down my cheeks, and into my neckline, completely ruining my white dress.

The wine was ice-cold, and my entire body began to tremble.

“Make her my Luna?”

Adrian stood over me, looking down with a cruel smile curling across his lips.

“Would you ever fall in love with a sedative?”

The private lounge erupted with laughter.

“You take it when your head hurts. Once the pain is gone, who gives the medicine left over another thought?”

He gave my cheek a light pat, a gesture far more humiliating than a slap.

“She’s just a tool I use to control my wolf. Understand?”

I wiped the wine from my face without shedding a tear, and my smile grew even brighter.

I pulled two tissues from the box on the table and carefully wiped the wine from his fingers.

“You’re right.”

There was not even a trace of reluctance in my voice.

“It’s an honor to be your sedative.”

Adrian stared at me as I let him humiliate me without resistance, and a strange flicker of irritation crossed his eyes.

Without warning, he kicked over the coffee table, sending glasses crashing across the floor.

“Get out! I’m sick of looking at you!”

I immediately stood and walked straight out of the private lounge.

The moment the door closed behind me, every trace of devotion vanished from my face.

I went into the restroom and began toweling the wine from my hair while sending Mrs. Black a message.

“Public humiliation. Dress ruined. Severe emotional distress. Compensation: five hundred thousand dollars. Transfer it to the usual account.”

Less than a minute later, my phone chimed with a bank notification.

Five hundred thousand dollars had been deposited.

I looked at myself in the mirror and burst out laughing.

So what if I was a sedative?

Was there any job in the world that paid better than this?

But I knew this job was almost over.

Selena was back.
