Forty-Nine Days of His Fake Amnesia Chapter 07
They brought Mira’s list.
Three notebooks. Covered in white rose stickers.
[Item One: Naomi hogged Evan’s phone on mating ceremony night. I couldn’t hear his birthday wishes.]
[Item Two: Naomi took the heirloom bracelet from the former Luna. Made me feel like an outsider.]
[Item Three: Naomi didn’t repost my PackNet update when I came back to Moonlight City. Jealousy.]
Evan flipped through.
His face got darker with every page.
Mira sat across from him. Red-eyed.
“Sweetie. You’ve seen all this. You said she was too controlling. She needed to learn to give.”
Evan looked up.
“Item Twelve. She stole your concert tickets?”
Mira bit her lip. “Those were your tickets for me. She said she wanted them too.”
Caleb handed over a printout.
“Alpha Evan. Luna Naomi bought those two tickets. Miss Bellamy said she couldn’t afford to come back to Moonlight City. Luna Naomi gave her the tickets. Transferred fifty thousand for her hotel.”
Mira paled.
Evan kept flipping.
“Item Twenty-nine. She made you miss the Highpine Pack onboarding?”
Caleb handed over another file.
“Miss Bellamy didn’t show for the interview. Later she complained to pack HR—using the title ‘future Luna’—that Luna Naomi was suppressing her.”
Mira panicked. “I was just nervous! She knew I’m shy with strangers. She wouldn’t come with me.”
Evan closed the book.
“This is your Ninety-Nine Grievances Ledger?”
Mira burst into tears. “But I really did suffer! She had everything—the Luna title, your estate, your mother, and she still played the victim!”
Evan stared at her. A smile. No warmth.
“She had everything?”
He threw his phone on the table.
Highpine Hot Springs Lodge surveillance. Forty-nine days.
Me getting up at five. Brewing his herbs. Doing rehab with him. Telling him our stories.
Him knocking over the soup I made.
Me cleaning it up. Only asking if he got burned.
Him telling me—on camera—that he didn’t know me. Don’t touch me.
Me standing outside the door. Finally hanging my scarf on the doorknob.
Mira watched. Her voice shook.
“She was doing it voluntarily. Playing the loyal mate.”
Evan swept all three notebooks off the table.
Pages scattered everywhere.
I floated by the window. Saw one page.
[Item Ninety-Nine: Naomi knew Evan loved me most, but she stayed alive anyway.]
My existence was her offense.
Evan went back to Highpine Moon Retreat. Late.
The room was still how I left it.
On the table, forty-nine memory cards. My handwriting.
[Day One: You woke up and didn’t know me. I told myself it’s okay. We can start over.]
[Day Twenty-three: You said my soup was too salty. I tried it. It was.]
[Day Forty-nine: Taking you down the mountain tomorrow. If you still don’t remember me, I’ll go home.]
Evan held the last card. Stood there forever.
On the back, a tiny line.
“That whistle’s old. When you remember me, we’ll get a new one.”
His tears hit the ink.
He opened my laptop.
An unscheduled email was waiting.
