I Loved You Through Seven Losses Chapter 07

Then Asher and Garrett saw who it actually was, 

and their faces emptied out. 

There was something close to grief in it. 

Sienna caught the change the second it crossed 

their faces. 

Her own expression turned ugly. 

She held it in, though, and didn’t go off. 

She only put a hand up and waved the smoke 

away from her face. 

“Why are you two chain–smoking? You know I can’t 

stand the smell while I’m pregnant.” 

“Roxie’s still not back?” 

She would have done better to say nothing, 

because Asher’s face went dark the second she 

asked. 

“You’ve got some nerve asking me that.” 

“Tell me why you told Roxie about her parents!” 

Sienna fired straight back. 

“Don’t you raise your voice at me!” 

“Which part of it was a lie? That’s exactly how it 

happened!” 

Asher came up out of his chair, and the words 

ground out between his teeth. 

“Say that to me one more time.” 

Sienna looked at his shaking fists and let out a 

laugh that had nothing sane in it. 

“What, Asher? Are you going to hit me?” 

“You two made the bet. You two lied to her.” 

She scoffed. 

“You two were the ones scheming to make her 

lose the pup!” 

“All I did was tell her the truth. What exactly did I 

do wrong?” 

“If anything, I’ve been more honest than either of 

you!” 

“And honestly, I’m not shocked she skipped today. Did you really think she’d stand up there and take you after knowing all of it?” 

Asher couldn’t hold the rage back another second. 

He grabbed the ashtray off the coffee table and 

hurled it at her. 

“Get out! Get out of my house!” 

“Asher, you’ll regret this. Don’t forget whose pup 

I’m carrying!” 

Asher laughed, cold as ice. 

“After all this, you think I’m still letting you have it?” 

Sienna’s eyes went wide in disbelief. 

But she knew Asher too well. 

He was a thousand times harder than he looked, 

and once he decided something, it never moved. 

Hadn’t he been exactly like that with Roxie? 

She turned to Garrett, who hadn’t said a word this 

whole time. 

She grabbed for him like a last rope. 

“Garrett, say something!” 

Garrett pulled the last cigarette out of the pack 

without lifting his eyes. 

“Asher’s right. That pup isn’t staying.” 

“I booked your appointment for tomorrow. You’re going, whether you want to or not.” 

“And after it’s done, you and I are finished.” 

Sienna’s eyes went huge, like she couldn’t trust her 

own ears. 

The two men didn’t give her the chance to say 

another word. 

They took hold of her arms instead. 

“You need to go. If Roxie comes back and sees 

you here, it’ll upset her.” 

The door slammed shut behind her. 

Then they changed the code. 

Sienna had been thrown out like a rag. 

It took her a few seconds to come back to herself, 

and she dragged herself upright and beat on that 

door until her hands went raw, and nobody was 

ever going to answer it. 

A few minutes later, a cramp tore through her, low 

and unbearable. 

This wasn’t like the last time she had performed. 

one. This one went into the bone. 

She grabbed her stomach and watched the blood 

run down the inside of her leg and pool on the 

floor. 

At the same moment, a phone started ringing 

inside the house. 

It was Asher’s, and the Wolf Council was on the 

line. 

“Stop looking for Roxie Reed,” the voice on the 

other end said, low and hard. 

“She’s been recruited into a classified project, and 

she’s under Council protection now.” 

“You’ll see her again if the Council allows it, and 

only if they feel like allowing it.”
