I Saved An Amnesiac Werewolf, Then Found A New Loyal Wolf Chapter 02

I jerked my head away, my stomach turning.

“Shut up!”

Lilith acted like she hadn’t heard me.

Her gaze drifted to the discount roast chicken and expired milk on the floor, her smile deepening.

“Do you have any idea what Draven used to eat? Where he lived? What he wore?”

“A place like this was far from the life he was used to. And this, he’d never touch any of it.”

I kept my eyes on Draven.

“Is that how you see it too?”

The room fell silent.

Finally, he spoke, “You don’t need to buy those anymore.”

Just one sentence. It cut deeper than everything Lilith had said.

My eyes burned, but my voice stayed steady.

“Draven, if you’re leaving today, then go.”

“But at least tell me the truth. What did these last three months mean to you?”

Something flickered in his expression. Not guilt. Just impatience.

“I owe you. You can ask for whatever you want.”

In that instant, I got it.

Every sleepless night. Every paycheck I’d burned through.

The necklace I’d sold. Even the feelings I never should’ve had.

To him, they were just a debt with a price tag.

Lilith stepped closer, lowering her voice with a smug smile.

“Sera, get real. Draven has his memories back.”

“Someone like you isn’t worth a second glance.”

I bent down and picked up the milk carton that had rolled against the wall.

My hands were shaking.

The roast chicken was covered in dust now. It was ruined.

Before I got off work today, I’d been thinking I’d make him soup that night. Maybe he’d actually eat a little more.

Turns out, he’d never wanted any of it.

I tossed the broken carton into the trash.

When I straightened up, my throat felt raw.

“Fine. Then listen up.”

I looked straight at Draven.

“I was the one who brought you home.”

“Amnesia or not, it made no difference.”

“But since you think this place is beneath you, the food I buy is beneath you, and I’m beneath you, then get out of my apartment.”

Lilith’s face darkened. “Who the hell do you think you—”

“I said leave.”

It was the first time I’d ever shouted that loudly. Even I was startled by it.

The room went completely still.

Draven stared at me, his eyes growing colder by the second.

“Sera. You’ll regret this.”

I met his gaze without blinking.

“The biggest mistake I ever made was picking you up from that underpass.”

For the first time, his expression changed.

A few minutes later, they were gone.

The door clicked shut.

Every ounce of strength left my body. My knees gave out, and I sank onto the floor.

Something black peeked out from beneath the coffee table.

I reached over and picked it up.

A solid black card. No logo. No design.

Just one line printed on the back.

[Tomorrow. Seven p.m. The Obsidian Hall. Come collect your compensation.]

I had no intention of going.

The next morning, my landlord was already pounding on my door.

“Sera! You paying this month’s rent or what?”

I leaned against the door, my voice hoarse. “Give me two more days.”

“I already gave you a week,” he snapped. “You don’t have it by tomorrow, I’m changing the locks.”

After he left, I stood there without moving.

My phone buzzed. It was a message from the animal hospital.

[You didn’t pass your probationary evaluation. Your position has been terminated.]

I stared at the screen for a moment. Then I let out a bitter laugh.

Rent was overdue. My job was gone.

Draven’s black card had come at exactly the right time.
