I Saved An Amnesiac Werewolf, Then Found A New Loyal Wolf Chapter 09
The Alpha Heir.Â
My head snapped toward Caelan.Â
The wounded pup I’d taken in had never been aÂ
stray at all.Â
He was the true Alpha Heir of the werewolves.Â
Elder Thorne’s voice was grave.Â
“The Vane family was only concerned that thisÂ
human knew too much.”Â
A chill ran through me.Â
So from the very beginning, I was nothing but bait.Â
Lilith stopped pretending.Â
“She’s just a human. She knew too much. And sheÂ
was the perfect bait to flush you out.”Â
Draven’s head whipped toward her.Â
For the first time, there was something frighteningÂ
in his eyes.Â
“You knew all along?”Â
Lilith tried to explain. “Everything I did was for-”Â
“I said, enough.”Â
When he looked back at me, his face had goneÂ
pale.Â
“Sera. I didn’t know they’d planned to use you too.”Â
I found it almost laughable.Â
“You didn’t know?”Â
I looked at him calmly.Â
“But you’re the one who threw me to them.”Â
He went completely still.Â
At last, Caelan lifted his eyes. His voice wasn’tÂ
loud.Â
No one in the room dared move.Â
“Go back. Tell the Council. Tell the Vanes.”Â
He stepped in front of me, his gray–gold eyes hardÂ
and unreadable.Â
“She’s under my protection. If anyone lays a handÂ
on her again, I’ll deal with them first.”Â
The room fell into dead silence.Â
Lilith’s face slowly lost all color. Even Elder ThorneÂ
lowered his head.Â
Caelan turned to me. “Pack your things.”Â
I blinked. “Now?”Â
“Now.” He met my eyes. “Come with me.”Â
Draven stood frozen in the doorway. His voice wasÂ
hoarse.Â
“Sera, are you really leaving with him?”Â
I looked at him. There wasn’t a trace of hesitationÂ
left inside me.Â
“Yes. I’m going with him.”Â
The next morning, Caelan took me to the CouncilÂ
Hall.Â
I paused at the threshold.Â
He glanced at me. His tone stayed calm.Â
“Today, they pay back what they owe.”Â
The Council Hall was already full. People I didn’tÂ
recognize lined both sides of the long table.Â
The Vane family sat on the left. Draven was thereÂ
too.Â
Lilith stood beside her father, Lord Vane.Â
Her face looked even worse than it had the night.Â
before.Â
Yet the moment she saw me, that familiarÂ
contempt returned to her eyes.Â
“A human? And you think she belongs here?”Â
Before I could answer, Caelan walked to the headÂ
of the table and dropped a folder onto it.Â
“The Vanes certainly thought she was usefulÂ
enough.”Â
The room instantly fell silent.Â
Lilith’s expression changed.Â
“What do you mean?”Â
Caelan ignored her. Instead, he looked at theÂ
elders seated above.Â
“The Vanes used the Lineage Gala to force herÂ
out. The bond mark to put her on display. And herÂ
to draw me out.”Â
He slowly swept his gaze across the room.Â
“Which one of you didn’t know about it?”Â
No one answered. But the look on several facesÂ
had already shifted.Â
The corner of Caelan’s mouth lifted.Â
There wasn’t a hint of warmth in his eyes.Â
“You were all plenty bold last night, cornering herÂ
at her apartment.”Â
Lord shot to his feet.Â
“Alpha. Everything the Vane family did was for the stability of the pack-”Â
“Stability?” I spoke for the first time.Â
My voice wasn’t loud. But every eye turned towardÂ
- me.Â
“You traded a human life for your stability?”Â
Lilith’s expression stiffened.Â
I looked at her. The irony almost made me smile.Â
“You kept saying I was beneath you. That I wasn’tÂ
worthy of your world.”Â
“Then why were you so afraid of the bond mark onÂ
my wrist?”Â
She clenched her teeth. “What nonsense are youÂ
talking about-”Â
“Nonsense?”Â
I cut her off. “If it really meant nothing, why wereÂ
you so desperate to have me deny it in public?”Â
“Why drag people to my door last night?”Â
She couldn’t answer.Â
Every pair of eyes in the room was fixed on her.Â
The arrogance she’d worn like a crown wasÂ
stripped away piece by piece.Â
Only then did Caelan raise a hand.Â
Someone immediately stepped forward withÂ
another file.Â
“Every private exchange between the Vanes andÂ
certain members of this Council–it’s all here.” HisÂ
voice remained even.Â
The pressure in the room became suffocating.Â
“Shall I read them aloud?”Â
Lord’s face went ashen. “Alpha!”Â
“Effective today. The Vane family’s stripped of itsÂ
council seat.”Â
The moment those words fell, the entire CouncilÂ
Hall went silent.
