I Spiked His Drink, He Drank It Anyway Chapter 09

So it had all been a misunderstanding.

Stellan didn’t like the cool, untouchable type at all. His type was me?

When I stayed silent, he went on.

“This Iris you mentioned—I barely even remembered her. I’m grateful she saved you, but she’s not my type.”

” Tamsin, the one I want is you. So please, don’t divorce me.”

The comments completely lost it.

[Wait… WHAT? Stellan likes Tamsin?]

[Guess every guy has his type—turns out Stellan’s into gorgeous airheads.]

[So if the side character had just been herself from the beginning, she’d have won him over ages ago.]

[Wait, so if Stellan and Tamsin end up together… what about our female lead?]

[I’m more curious about who Iris spent that night with.]

[Whoever it was, she seemed pretty happy.]

[Honestly? This works too.]

[No one said the male lead has to end up with the female lead. And]

the female lead doesn’t need a man to have her happy ending.]

[Tamsin’s the lead in her own life—not anyone’s side character, not anyone’s stand-in.]

The rain came out of nowhere—a sudden, drenching downpour that soaked us both in seconds.

I swallowed the words I’d been about to say.

“Let’s head to the apartment. We can talk there.”

The moment we stepped inside, Stellan pulled me into his arms.

His lips found mine without warning.

He only pulled back when I was gasping for air.

“So… no divorce?”

Instead of answering, I brought up old business.

“Who did you have dinner with at Kai Sushi & Grill?”

“A client. It was a last-minute thing.”

“And afterward? You never came home.”

“I went back to the office to finish a proposal. Slept there.”

“Oh.” A smile slowly spread across my face.

Every last misunderstanding unraveled right there.

He slipped an arm around my waist and drew me closer.

“So, you still want that divorce?”

I wrapped my arms around him and smiled.

“Depends on your performance.”

I showered first.

When Stellan came out of the bathroom, I casually handed him a glass of water.

His gaze darkened.

“I don’t need any assistance.”

So he’d known all along about the water that night, and he’d drunk it anyway.

I quickly explained. “I didn’t put anything in it this time.”

He drained the glass in one go, then swept me into his arms and carried me toward the bed. His fingers found the sash of my robe.

“Stellan,” I blushed. “I don’t have any…”

“I do.” He turned, fished a box of condoms from the pocket of his discarded suit.

My face burned even hotter.

“You… carry one around?”

“Yeah.”

Then he noticed the open box and paused awkwardly.

“One’s missing. I never used it.”

I instantly thought back to that night in the dance studio.

The missing one—I’d thrown it in the trash.

The comments couldn’t stop laughing.

[LMAO. This man has been holding it in for way too long.]

[To be fair, Tamsin’s gorgeous. Imagine living with her and never being able to touch her.]

[Well, tonight’s finally his lucky night.]

Late that night, moonlight spilled through the window.

Curled up in Stellan’s arms, I murmured softly, “Stellan, you’re my ideal type too.”

“I wanted to keep my place as Mrs. Hollister not because you’re the Hollister heir, but because I love you.”

Joy flashed across his face.

He held me even tighter and kissed me again.

After that night, I made up my mind.

I’d give Luna to Iris and take Solis instead.

Iris looked surprised and waved me off.

“Tamsin, saving you was just instinct—I wasn’t expecting anything in return. You don’t have to do this.”

I spoke sincerely, “This has nothing to do with you saving me.”

“Honestly, Iris—Luna suits you, Solis suits me.”

“We’re just going back to where we each belong.”

After a little more convincing, she finally agreed.

Once we each stepped into the role that fit us best, our partnership clicked like never before.

Together, we graced bigger and bigger stages—award shows, galas, national televised events.

No more talk of who outshone whom. We were each one of a kind, shining in our own right.

One weekend, Stellan and I went camping at Willow Creek Campground.

We’d just finished setting up our canopy when a proposal on a nearby lawn caught my attention.

Curious, I wandered over.

The one being proposed to… was Iris.

She’d been with her boyfriend for five years—her first love.

They’d spent some time apart because of a long-distance relationship before finding their way back to each other.

The bouquet of coral roses wrapped in platycodon? He was the one who’d sent it.

Iris said yes, smiling through happy tears.

Across the crowd, our eyes met.

She beamed at me. I beamed right back.

Stellan walked over and laced his fingers through mine.

Our wedding bands caught the sunlight, sparkling side by side.
