My Best Friend Stole My Cheating Boyfriend, I Called It Double Blessing Chapter 06

Mr. Chandler left. Nathan sat in his car, unable to

process what he’d just seen. The image was

burned into his brain: a screenshot of a social

media post.

The caption read, [My future soninlaw’s company.] The photo was a clear shot of the files spread across his desk. The profile picture belonged to Chloe’s mother.

Chloe had told him the client traced the data leak.

to an email from Eve’s account. She’d even shown

him proof.He’d believed every word.

All of it. A lie.

Ella was never the leak. Not for a single second.

And he hadn’t spent one minute verifying anything before he convicted her. That’s why she said she

regretted everything.

A flood of overlooked details rushed back. The

dead, hollow look in her eyes right before she left.

Him forgetting her birthday and then scolding her for being upset about such a small thing. The

steely certainty in her voice when she quit.

A massive wave of panic crashed over him. Hands.

shaking, he called Ella. A few rings. Then the

automated voice, The number you have dialed is

not available”

She’d blocked him.

Chloe’s text popped up. [How did it go? Everything okay?]

He squeezed his eyes shut and called her back.

She picked up instantly.

Nathan. Her voice carried its usual concern. I

just dropped my parents off. Are you done? How’s

Eve? Hasn’t she forgiven you yet? She really took

things too far this time”

Hearing that smooth, gentle tone, Nathan felt like

he was listening to a snake. He cut her off,

icecold.

You did it, didn’t you?”

A fractional pause. Then her tone stayed baffled and innocent. Did what? I barely salvaged this

deal. Shouldn’t you be thanking me instead of

interrogating me?”

Rage flooded Nathan’s voice. Chloe! Drop the act,

The leak didn’t come from Ella. It came from your

mother!”

But Chloe didn’t fold. That’s impossible. Did Ella tell you that? Even if she wants to dodge blame, she can’t just slander my mom-”

Shut up!”

Nathan’s roar silenced her. On the other end,

Chloe’s fake hurt evaporated into a soft, cold laugh.

Fine. It was me. So what?”

A little data. I fixed it, didn’t I? The company didn’t lose anything.”

Nathan’s chest heaved. What about Ella? Why frame her?”

Chloe laughed outright, scorn dripping from every syllable. Why? Because she’s not good enough. for you. She coasted at the front desk all day. How did she ever help you? I had to make you see who actually deserves to stand beside you.”

Nathan’s hand trembled around his phone. The independent, capable Chloe he thought he knew was this? He let out a laugh that tasted like ash.

Chloe, if it weren’t for Ella, you never would’ve set foot in this company. I’m telling everyone the truth. I’m clearing her name.”

That shattered Chloe’s composure. Panic finally bled through. Nathan, are you insane? You’re turning on me because of a useless receptionist? Do you have any idea how much revenue I’ve brought in?”

Nathan didn’t bother arguing. He hung up.

He slumped back in his seat as suffocating regret crashed into him. He’d been so, so stupid.

After a long moment, he inhaled sharply and told his assistant to prepare some gifts.

This time, he’d bring Eve back himself. She had the softest heart. She’d forgive him.
