My Best Friend’s Perfect Boyfriend Was My Alpha Fiancé Chapter 01
My best friend Victoria often dragged me into the “instant reply challenge” to test our mate’s loyalty.
The challenge was simple: by measuring how quickly a mate responded, she could prove whether he truly loved her.
While we were having French cuisine, her message was sent for less than three seconds before her mysterious boyfriend transferred 5,200 dollars as her meal fund.
I could only sit there silently until the entire table of dishes was finished before receiving a reply from Jonathan: “I’m in a pack meeting.”
On a stormy day, Victoria only needed to text, “I forgot my umbrella.” Within ten minutes, a luxury car arrived to pick her up. Meanwhile, I stood in the rain for an entire hour before Jonathan finally replied, “Call a taxi yourself.”
Victoria always poked my forehead and said, “With how clueless you are, someone could steal your man right in front of you, and you wouldn’t even know.”
More than once, I defended Jonathan, telling her that he really loved me, he was just too busy. Then I would hold onto her arm and pout, “Besides, I still have you, don’t I?”
Until the night of my bachelorette party before the wedding.
At the bar, Victoria and I were drugged and both entered our heat cycles. Panic flashed across her face as she quickly raised her phone and said, “Hazel, I feel sorry for you. If he still doesn’t come this time, reject him, okay?”
Desperate, I sent Jonathan a message asking for help.
Ten minutes later, he rushed in like a madman.
I thought I had finally won this time.
But instead of coming to me, he walked straight past me and pulled Victoria tightly into his arms, “Victoria, I’m sorry I’m late.”
I froze in place, watching him hold my best friend and leave.
Only then did I realize that the mysterious boyfriend who was always there for Victoria whenever she called was actually my fiancé of five years, my mate, Alpha Jonathan.
In my moment of despair, someone covered my mouth tightly, preventing me from making a single sound.
Only after everything ended did Jonathan finally calm Victoria down and carry her into the room next door.
Their heavy breathing and soft moans drifted through the half-open door.
Dragging my body covered in painful wounds, I walked toward the room. Just as my hand reached for the doorknob, a black card landed at my feet.
In the darkness, Jonathan’s hoarse voice sounded, “Waiter, get us some condoms and bring them over. Hurry.”
I blankly picked up the card, limped to the front desk, and bought a box.
Then I pushed open the door and placed it on the coffee table, “Here’s what you wanted.”
The two people kissing passionately on the sofa froze instantly. The moment Jonathan saw me, the desire in his eyes shattered.
“Hazel? Why are you here?”
“I messaged you.”
My gaze fell on their intertwined bodies, and my voice was completely hollow.
Jonathan finally understood what had happened. He shoved Victoria away and hurriedly grabbed his clothes.
Taking advantage of the chaos, I pulled his phone from his pocket and entered my birthday as the password.
The screen lit up.
What appeared before my eyes was Victoria’s chat window pinned at the top.
Beside my profile picture was a cold “Do Not Disturb” notification, with ninety-nine unread messages glaring back at me.
Only then did I understand.
It wasn’t that he hadn’t replied.
He hadn’t even bothered to look.
I stared at the screen full of his favoritism toward her. The accusations and pain I wanted to say remained stuck in my throat, and I swallowed them all back.
Jonathan grabbed my hand, his voice filled with a rare panic, “Hazel, I can explain.”
I said nothing. I only stared at his chest without blinking.
Jonathan had severe cleanliness issues. When it came to intimacy, he was always calm and restrained. He never allowed me to leave any marks on his body.
Once, I accidentally left a hickey on him, and he was so angry that he refused to let me get close to him for three months.
But now, his chest was covered with large, unmistakable red marks.
Seeing that I wasn’t crying or making a scene, the panic in Jonathan’s eyes grew stronger.
He hurriedly explained, “Hazel, Victoria was drugged and entered her heat cycle. You know I can’t resist a she-wolf in heat. It was just an accident.”
Beside us, Victoria slowly sat up and put on Jonathan’s shirt right in front of me.
She walked over, wrapped her arms around his neck, and smiled at me.
“Since you’ve already seen it, there’s no point hiding anymore. Let me introduce you properly. Jonathan Clarke, the Alpha of the Fullmoon Pack, and my boyfriend.”
Jonathan’s expression darkened, “Shut up!”
But Victoria ignored him. She picked up the box of condoms from the table, glanced at it, and laughed mockingly.
“Jonathan really hasn’t touched you much, has he? You don’t even know his size. Buying one this small? Are you trying to suffocate him?”
“Victoria, I said SHUT UP!”
Jonathan’s eyes turned blood-red as he grabbed her by the throat.
Victoria only smiled and gently touched the back of his hand.
“Don’t be so rough. When you were fucking me just now, you sounded much better than this.”
“Get out!”
Jonathan finally lost control. He threw her out of the room and turned back to grab my hand.
“Hazel, believe me. I just lost my mind for a moment…”
Before he could finish, the light from the doorway fell onto me, and he finally saw the blood covering my body.
Jonathan’s pupils contracted, and his eyes filled with pain, “Hazel, how did you get hurt?”
I avoided his touch and answered coldly, “I fell by accident.”
“Wait here. I’ll get the first aid kit.”
Jonathan’s eyes turned red with worry. He carefully carried me to the sofa before rushing out of the room.
I don’t know how much time passed. The pain slowly caught up with me.
After waiting for a long time and still seeing no sign of him returning, I curled up on the sofa, dizzy and exhausted.
Unintentionally, my hand pressed against my phone and dialed Jonathan’s number.
This time, the call connected after only one second.
