My Boyfriend’s Childhood Sweetheart Cursed Me?It All Came Back Chapter 07
He opened the door.Â
She stumbled in, grabbing his arm, sobbingÂ
“Ethan… I was attacked…”Â
Her clothes were torn. Bruises and cuts coveredÂ
her body. Dirt smeared her skin. She looked like she’d been dragged through hell.Â
“Why did he come for me?! It was supposed to be her! Not me! This isn’t right!”Â
Ethan’s hand trembled at his side.Â
Then she heard me come in.Â
Her head snapped toward me.Â
“You… this is your fault! You did something to me! What did you do?!”Â
She lunged. Ethan caught her before she couldÂ
reach me.Â
“Celine, think about what you did,” he said, voiceÂ
hard.Â
Her eyes went wide, manic. “No… it can’t fail… itÂ
never failed before…”Â
I leaned against the wall, coffee in hand. “You’reÂ
wondering why your curse didn’t land on me, but came back on you instead.”Â
“Celine. Where did you get this ability?”Â
She bit her lip so hard it bled. Then she startedÂ
laughing–low, broken.Â
“Just bad luck. My power can’t fail.”Â
Her head lifted. Bloodshot eyes. She lookedÂ
demonic.Â
“Stella! You’ll be taken by traffickers! They’ll sellÂ
you to Southeast Asia! They’ll cut you open and take everything–your eyes, your kidneys! You’llÂ
wish you were dead!”Â
Before I could stop her, the system chimed.Â
[Ding! Rebound successful!]Â
Ethan finally lost control.Â
His hand struck across Celine’s face.Â
“Shut your mouth!”Â
“Stella never hurt you! Why are you doing this toÂ
her?!”Â
“All those girls I knew–they did nothing to you.Â
You destroyed their lives because you wereÂ
jealous! How did you become this person?”Â
Her hands clawed at her own face. Her voiceÂ
cracked.Â
His voice broke. Not just anger–grief. Grief for theÂ
girl he’d once known, the one who hadÂ
disappeared behind this monster.Â
Celine held her red cheek. Laughing and crying atÂ
the same time.Â
“Ethan… I love you… I just wanted you. Why can’tÂ
you be mine? Those wicked women–they don’tÂ
deserve you! I’m the only one who really caresÂ
about you!”Â
“They’re all using you! I’m the only one who’s real!”Â
Ethan’s chest heaved. Pain flickered in his eyes.Â
Then he said, cold and final:Â
“I never loved you. I never will.”Â
“The damage you’ve done–you have to answer for it yourself.”Â
While they argued, I reached out to the system.Â
Asked if the curse could be cancelled. The curseÂ
was too cruel, even for her.Â
The system said it could–if Celine chose to take itÂ
back. But it would cost me points.Â
I turned to her one more time.Â
“Celine. Whether you believe it or not–every curse you just threw at me will hit you instead.”Â
“I’m giving you one last chance. Take it back. AndÂ
this ends.”Â
Ethan added, “Celine. What happened at the party. What happened tonight. Don’t you see?”Â
She paused. Then her face lit up with sick understanding.Â
“Ah. You’re scared.”
