The Forgotten Twin Chapter 03

“That’s right! Clara did so well this time. We have to celebrate.”

They crowded around Clara, excitedly discussing every detail of her Honor Banquet.

Thomas instinctively shoved me aside just to get closer to her.

I lost my balance and slammed my head against the corner of the coffee table with a loud thud.

No one noticed.

A large bump immediately swelled on my forehead.

I said nothing. I simply got back to my feet and quietly walked out.

Even if I told them, they wouldn’t care. Besides, I still had to earn money for my college tuition.

In the KTV staff room, I changed into my uniform as usual and went from room to room promoting drinks. Then I heard a familiar voice.

The moment I pushed the door open, Clara looked at me in surprise.

“Madeline?”

I froze.

Mom, William, and Thomas all turned toward me at the same time.

Mom looked me up and down, her face instantly darkening.

“Madeline, are you trying to make me furious? I know you got a zero on this year’s exam and probably won’t awaken your wolf, but didn’t we agree you’d repeat the year? You’re so smart. Are you really planning to spend the rest of your life working as a waitress?”

William frowned, “Are you trying to ruin your own future?”

Thomas grabbed my wrist and tried to pull me outside.

“Come on. We’re going home right now. You need to start studying.”

I looked at them and suddenly found it ridiculous. They were the ones who had been trying to make me fail. Now that they’d gotten exactly what they wanted, why were they suddenly unhappy?

Over the following days, they kept me locked in my room and watched me study.

It was the first time in years they had spent so much time with me. Yet all I felt was suffocated.

“Mom, is my gown ready? Today’s the biggest day of my life!”

Holding an elegant gift box, Mom hurried over.

“Clara, I specially ordered this custom-made dress for you. It cost over two hundred thousand dollars!”

William eagerly took out a velvet jewelry box, “And this is from me. A pink diamond necklace worth five hundred thousand dollars.”

Not wanting to be outdone, Thomas grinned.

“Look what I got you! My mom won this at an auction. It used to belong to the former Luna Queen. It’s worth over a hundred million.”

Clara happily accepted every gift and dressed up like a princess.

Surrounded by all of them, she climbed into a luxurious car and headed to the banquet. I was forgotten in my room.

A long while later, my phone buzzed with a message: [Madeline, come to the banquet yourself.]

I didn’t refuse. After all, today was such an important day. I was looking forward to watching a good show.

By the time I arrived at the banquet, I was drenched in sweat.

My clothes clung uncomfortably to my back.

The moment Mom saw me, she frowned, “Madeline, look at the state you’re in. Today is Clara’s big day. You’re embarrassing us.”

Embarrassing? If I’d had money, I wouldn’t have walked all the way here.

But I couldn’t be bothered to explain. They had never really seen me anyway.

William somehow found a waitress’s uniform and tossed it at me, “Put this on. Don’t sit at the main table later. Find a seat in some remote corner. Don’t ruin Clara’s Honor Banquet.”

The banquet began.

Pack members, along with the Alphas and Lunas from our allied packs, all came forward to congratulate Mom on having such an outstanding daughter.

Suddenly, a commotion broke out at the entrance. Everyone began whispering excitedly.

“Oh my Goddess, that’s an admissions officer from Royal Fang!”

“That one looks like they’re from Lunarcrest!”

“Our Alpha’s sister is incredible! Even Silverhowl sent someone!”

Hearing the crowd’s excitement, Clara beamed at Mom and the others, “I told you! I must have done amazingly on the exam. I might even be an SSS-ranked Golden Wolf!”

Thomas’s parents, Alpha Luke and Luna Margaret, affectionately took Clara’s hands.

“Clara is the promising one. Once you choose Royal Fang, Thomas will have someone to keep him company at school.”

Once upon a time, they had said those same words to me.

The admissions officers from Royal Fang, Silverhowl, and Lunarcrest all hurried forward, competing to be the first to reach…

“Madeline Morton!”

“Choose our academy, and we’ll offer you the very best treatment!”
