The Werewolf General Fell in Love With Me at First Sight 1001 Times Chapter 03

I didn’t know what right I had to advise him.

But I still agreed.

Putting aside the fact that he was my mate, Kael was also a hero of the Alliance.

In every sense of the word, I ought to tell him to take care of himself.

Three days passed quickly.

Thinking this might be our last meeting, I put on a full face of makeup and wore a formal dress, wanting to treat the bonddissolution process with the seriousness it deserved.

But right before I left, I caught my reflection in the mirror.

And suddenly, some unpleasant memories rushed back.

The man had pressed me against the mirror, his voice hoarse.

“Baby, all dressed up so pretty, so who were you going to see?”

“Oh, it was me.”

“You’re so sweet, baby…”

I shuddered violently.

I turned around, washed off all the makeup, and threw on a plain white dress.

I checked myself in the mirror again—

Bare-faced, looking like I’d just thrown on whatever and showed up, completely halfassed.

Perfect.

Nodding in satisfaction, I grabbed the dissolution agreement and headed out.

Because I’d wasted time fussing before leaving, I arrived a little late at the meeting spot.

Felix had booked us a café right outside the Management Center so we could go over the paperwork first.

The moment I stepped into the café, I couldn’t help shivering.

Even suppressed, the pressure from an Sclass shifter was terrifying.

It felt like being stalked by some monstrous beast.

It was a kind of bonedeep dread.

Other customers in the shop were trembling.

A few timid shifters had even been forced into their animal forms, their long white ears drooping as they huddled in the corners.

Shifters at Kael’s level rarely appeared in public.

His aura was too heavy; even doing nothing, he’d overwhelm lowerranked shifters.

It was like a rabbit facing a wolf. Even if the wolf was locked in a cage, the rabbit would be terrified.

And on top of that, he wasn’t fully healed yet… the bloody edge to his presence made it even worse.

I quickened my pace and walked to the corner booth, where the man sat by the window.

“Mr. Kael.”

Kael was dressed simply in a shirt, his uniform jacket draped loosely on the sofa beside him.

He lounged back lazily, idly toying with his smart band.

At the sound of my voice, he lifted his eyes coldly.

“Ms. Hart, being late isn’t a good habit…”

But the moment he saw me, his body seemed to jolt.

He slowly straightened up.

“…Ma… Mate?”

I guiltily dropped my gaze, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear.

“Sorry I’m late,” I murmured.

Kael’s breath hitched for a second.

His eyes went unfocused.

“…It’s, it’s fine.”

“I came early.”

I sat down across from him and pulled the agreement out of my bag, sliding it across the table.

“Dear… Mr. Kael.”

“This is the draft my lawyer prepared. Please take a look and see if there’s anything you’d like to change.”

After saying that, I closed my eyes in embarrassment.

Under the table, my toes were curling so hard they could’ve dug a basement.

…So awkward.

“Dear”?

He’d lost his memory, didn’t even want to see me, and the first thing he did was ask to break the bond. But I called him “dear”?

After a silent struggle in my head, I finally noticed the silence hanging in the air.

I slowly looked up and shot Kael a tentative glance.

He seemed busy.

His lips pressed together, fingers flying across his device like he was dealing with official business.

But from time to time, his eyes flicked toward the agreement sitting on the table.

Huh? Was he unhappy with something in it?

I ventured, “…Mr. Kael?”

After a beat, Kael slowly turned to me, his pupils unfocused. “…Ms. Hart.”

I gave an awkward smile and asked carefully, “Um, are you busy right now? Maybe we can just head in and get it done?”

“Also, are you not satisfied with the terms? We can split the assets fiftyfifty if you want.”

Kael didn’t answer.

His face went pale bit by bit.

His slender fingers clenched and then unclenched for no reason.

“I…” Kael gritted his teeth. “Actually…”
