You Want My Grandma’s $8 BILLION Inheritance DREAM ON! SCUMBAG, Watch Your Empire COLLAPSE Overnight! Chapter 12

The sixth day.

Julian called me.

“Miss Grant, the final group of buyers for your grandmother’s estate arrived today. The contracts are ready. The signing is scheduled for three this afternoon.”

“Good.”

“Also…” His voice lowered. “I received a lawyer’s letter today.”

“Who sent it?”

“Alex’s personal attorney, Mendell.”

I froze for a moment.

“What does it say?”

“He’s representing Alexander Langford regarding… the issue of your ‘marital assets.'”

“Marital assets?”

“He claims that, according to your marriage certificate—” Julian paused, his voice turning cold, “you and Mr. Langford are legally married. He’s demanding negotiations over his supposed marital rights to the inheritance you’re about to receive.”

I laughed.

I actually laughed out loud.

He was panicking.

He knew I was about to receive the inheritance.

That was why he couldn’t wait anymore.

Before the estate officially came into my hands, he wanted to use that fake marriage certificate to establish himself as my “husband” and legally take half of what was mine.

“Julian,” I said, “reply to him. Just four words.”

“Which four words?”

“See you in court.”

At three in the afternoon, the final group of buyers signed the contracts.

The entire $8 billion inheritance was officially liquidated.

Combined with the $4.73 billion in the “Evie Sequence” account, my total assets exceeded $12 billion.

Twelve billion dollars.

All mine.

After signing the final document, I looked at Julian.

“Prepare the lawsuit.”

“When?”

“Tomorrow.”

“The charges?”

“First, confirmation that the marriage certificate is invalid. Second, fraud involving the fake collateral loan. Third, intentional harm—administering drugs that caused permanent damage to my body.”

Julian nodded.

Then he pulled a prepared complaint from his briefcase.

“I’ve been waiting three days for you to say that.”

He handed the document to me.

Defendants:

Alexander Langford, Diane Langford, Sophia Vale.

I read through it once.

Then I signed my name.

“File it tomorrow morning.”

“Understood.”

When I walked out of the law firm, I stood there for a while.

My phone rang.

Alex.

“Evie, are you free tonight? I invited a few friends to dinner. I want to introduce you.”

“What friends?”

“Some investors. They’re interested in the hotel industry. Your grandmother left you a hotel group, right? I thought I’d help you ask around and see if we can find someone to partner with.”

He was testing me.

He wanted to know how far along my inheritance process was.

“Alex,” I said, “I’ve already sold all of Grandma’s inheritance.”

The other end of the line went silent.

Completely silent.

For five seconds.

“Sold?” His voice changed. “What do you mean? Who did you sell it to?”

“I liquidated everything. The cash is already in my account.”

“You…”

He took a sharp breath.

“Evie, how could you not discuss something this important with me? That was eight billion dollars!”

“It was my grandmother’s inheritance.” My voice remained calm. “Why would I need to discuss it with you?”

“I’m your husband!”

“Am I?”

The moment those two words left my mouth, the other end of the

phone went completely silent.

I could hear his breathing.

Fast.

Uneven.

“Evie, what do you mean by that?”

“Nothing.” I said. “You’ll find out tomorrow.”

I hung up.
