After I Became Pretty Chapter 05
Dorian’s breath hitched—just for a second.
He glanced at the bracelet on my wrist, then back at my face, like he was checking it twice.
I could practically see the light switch on behind his eyes.
He swallowed hard.
His expression was almost comically dazed.
That one look told me everything I needed to know.
The past three months of pain, sweat, and tears?
Worth every second.
The comments were confused.
[Wait… who is this gorgeous girl? Is she seriously trying to steal Seren’s guy?]
[Dorian’s Porsche must’ve drawn the wrong kind of attention. Where did she even come from?]
[Hold on… there’s something vaguely familiar about her face. Like I’ve seen her somewhere before.]
I smiled and reached out to introduce myself—
But Seren stepped in front of me, practically shoving me back.
“Excuse me. Who exactly are you looking for?”
—
“He’s not from our school. You’ve got the wrong person.”
She planted herself between us like she was protecting something precious.
“Unless you’re looking for me? I don’t know you.”
“Are you a freshman? I’ve never seen you on campus before.”
“New students go to the welcome booth, not interrupt people’s conversations.”
She wouldn’t even let me speak.
And I noticed something interesting—
behind all that aggression, she looked nervous. Scared.
So this was Seren’s reaction to seeing someone prettier than her.
If I revealed who I was right now…
This was going to be good.
I couldn’t wait any longer.
Dorian was already frowning, clearly annoyed with Seren’s behavior.
Just as he opened his mouth—
A guy ran up to me, slightly out of breath.
“Hey. I’ve been watching you for a while.”
“You’re really beautiful—can I get your WhatsApp?”
I’d been getting this a lot lately.
—
I knew how to handle it.
But at university, when one guy approaches, more usually follow.
So before I could answer the first, a second one stepped up, phone already out.
“Can I add you? Let me take you out to dinner.”
People started whispering around us.
“Who is she? I’ve never seen her before.”
“Seren used to be the campus beauty… but next to this girl, she’s completely overshadowed.”
Dorian’s jealousy snapped.
He shoved Seren aside, stepped in front of me, and took my hand with visible pride.
“Elara’s with me. So back off.”
Seren’s jaw dropped.
Her hand trembled as she pointed at me.
“Wait—you’re telling me this is Elara?”
