Faked Amnesia, Real Luna Revenge Chapter 01
“Moon Goddess, what have I done. I should never have snapped at him. I should never have fought with him.”
“If anything really happens to Joey, I know I would not survive it either.”
Tears kept falling, every drop glittering with regret. Just this afternoon, Joey didn’t answer my call again, and we got into a huge fight.
To make it up to me, he drove out in the middle of a heavy rainstorm to buy me pizza, and that was when the accident happened.
When I heard the news, my mind went completely blank. I didn’t even change clothes, I just ran outside, losing one of my slippers along the way.
When I finally found the hospital room, the wolf doctor Louis, dressed in a white coat, happened to step out and close the door behind him.
He looked surprised when he saw me. “Luna, why are you soaked like this?”
I knew I was dripping wet and completely undignified, but I didn’t care. I choked out anxiously, “Joey… Joey… How is he?”
Seeing how close I was to breaking down, Louis’s eyes flickered as he hesitated. “The Alpha just hit his head. Physically, he’s mostly fine.”
“Is he inside?”
Just as I reached for the door, Louis hurried to stop me. “Luna, please let me finish first.”
I stared at him blankly. “Are you hiding something from me? Is Joey really okay?”
Louis nodded, then pointed at his own head. “He took a hit here. Something’s not quite right. I don’t know how to explain it, you’ll understand once you go in.”
“But Luna, you have to promise me something. No matter what you see, you can’t get angry.”
On the way here, regret had already swallowed me whole. The pain coming through our mate bond hollowed me out from the inside, leaving me barely able to breathe.
As long as Joey was alive and not seriously hurt, I was willing to do anything. I would never fight with him again.
But I never expected that when I pushed the door open, what I would see was my Alpha gently holding a young, fashionable she-wolf dressed in a white dress.
Her name was Sansa.
She used to be Joey’s secretary, but because I didn’t like her, Joey had fired her a month ago.
And the fight I had with Joey today was because of her.
Startled by the door opening, Sansa saw me and quickly pushed Joey away, panic written all over her face.
Seeing her there made my chest tighten. I hardened my expression and looked at the man on the bed.
Joey lifted his eyes to meet mine. His gaze was unfamiliar.
I saw the bandage wrapped around his forehead, and my heart stung. Guilt and pain surged up as I stepped forward instinctively.
Then Joey suddenly turned his head and asked Sansa in a gentle voice, “Who is she?”
Sansa glanced at me uneasily and hesitated. “She’s Lu… she’s Miss Welch.”
Joey held out his hand. Sansa placed her hand into his broad palm.
“Our friend?”
Sansa quickly shook her head. Watching their hands clasp together, rage flared violently in my chest.
The man looked back at me again. His once tender gray-green eyes were now steeped in deep disgust.
In that moment, realization struck. I widened my eyes, my voice trembling in disbelief. “You lost your…”
“Get out.”
