Faked Amnesia, Real Luna Revenge Chapter 12
“Were you two already involved long ago?” Joey asked.
“No.”
Declan loosened his grip, lit a cigarette, narrowed his deep-set eyes, and let out a hoarse laugh.
“We barely exchanged more than a few words over the past few years. Now that I finally got what I wanted, I really should thank Louis. He came up with a great idea.”
As he turned away, Declan added lightly, “She only forgot you.”
…
After I went upstairs, Joey called me again.
He said Declan had lied to me, that he was my real mate. I naturally pretended not to believe him.
He sent message after message. I didn’t reply to any of them.
Then my mother suddenly called and told me to come home for dinner.
The moment I walked in, I saw Joey sitting with my mom, chatting and laughing. As soon as he saw me, he stood up eagerly and walked toward me with warmth in his voice.
“Misty.”
As if nothing had ever happened between us.
But the image of that video flashed through my mind. Looking at his
—
face, that instinctive wave of disgust surged up again.
When he reached out to grab my hand, I dodged. I had already known my mom wouldn’t call me back without a reason.
“I’m going to cook. You and Joey talk,” she said cheerfully, heading into the kitchen.
“Misty, did you really forget me?” Joey asked.
“Was it you who asked my mom to call me back?” I said.
“You wouldn’t see me otherwise,” he replied.
He looked at me with pain and desperation in his eyes.
“Declan really lied to you. I’m your mate. Your mother can prove it.”
He pulled the Mate Bond Agreement out of his pocket and handed it to me, then deliberately raised the hand wearing the ring.
“The ring on my hand matches yours. I had them custom made by a designer. One of a kind in the world.”
“I even had our initials engraved inside the rings.”
Afraid I wouldn’t believe him, Joey pointed it out carefully and said with deep emotion, “My forever lover. That was our vow before the Moon Goddess.”
The words were painfully familiar. Not long ago, I had used the very same words to try to win him back.
Seeing me press my lips together and stay silent for a long moment, Joey grew anxious. He said urgently, “If you don’t believe me, we can
—
go to Pack Hall…”
“I believe you,” I said.
Joey visibly relaxed, then his expression quickly darkened.
“Misty, Declan lied to you. Come with me to the Pack police station…”
I cut him off. “That she-wolf we saw at the dessert shop a few days ago. She’s pregnant.”
“Misty, it’s not what you think,” Joey said in a rush. “I didn’t betray you. You’ve always been the woman I love most. I was just drunk. I made a stupid mistake.”
I stared at the panic on his face. “So you cheated.”
“I won’t let that child be born. The Luna position will always be yours…”
I interrupted him coldly. “I don’t remember anything from before.”
I glanced at the ring on my hand, closed the Mate Bond Agreement, and said with certainty, “I don’t know why I ever bonded with you, but I know for sure I would never like a man like you.”
“Misty, you loved me so much…”
“But I don’t remember it now,” I cut him off again.
His eyes turned red. For a moment, I thought of myself two months ago. I must have looked just like this.
No, back then I was probably worse.
At that time, my entire world was filled with him. I never once thought
—
he would lie to me. I trusted him completely. I loved him with everything I had.
And the man I loved stabbed me right in the heart. He probably didn’t hurt as much as I did.
After all, the bond between us had already been severed.
“If you really were my Alpha mate, if you truly loved me, why wasn’t the first person I saw when I woke up in the hospital you? Why wasn’t it you who stayed by my side and took care of me?” I asked.
“Misty, that’s not my fault,” Joey said angrily.
“It was Declan. He had ulterior motives. He didn’t notify me. If I had known you were…”
I cut him off coldly.
“But you never called me even once. As my mate, did you know whether I came home this past month? If our relationship was really that good, we would have been living together, wouldn’t we?”
Joey’s face went pale. He explained nervously, “Misty, I also… I was in a car accident. I hit my head and forgot about you.”
“You remember now? You’re sure I’m your mate?” I asked.
He nodded quickly. “Of course.”
“But you feel unfamiliar to me.”
“Misty, come home with me. I’ll help you remember. I…”
The phone rang. Joey took it out, glanced at the screen, and frowned
—
before answering. “What is it?”
Before the beta on the other end could say a word, Sansa’s sharp voice cut in.
“Joey, are you coming or not? If you don’t, I’ll take the pup and jump off your company building.”
“Don’t do anything stupid,” Joey snapped.
