Faked Amnesia, Real Luna Revenge Chapter 13

After Joey left in a hurry, the next day’s headline in the Werewolf Daily exploded across the front page.

My phone wouldn’t stop buzzing.

“Misty, is it true Joey cheated?”

“Misty, I always thought you were so happy. I’m free tomorrow. If you’re feeling bad, do you want to go out together?”

I didn’t reply to any of them. I covered my face and burst into tears.

Footsteps sounded behind me. A man wrapped his arms around me from behind and let out a quiet sigh.

“So you really like him that much?”

I didn’t answer. He lifted my chin, forcing my tear-soaked face into his dark, unreadable gaze.

“What would it take for you to like me instead?”

Before I could react, Declan bent down and pressed his lips hard against mine. The kiss was heavy and rough, nothing like the slow, restrained tenderness he’d shown before.

Under his aggressive pull, the sadness weighing on my chest quickly dissolved.

Drifting, half-dazed, my eyes half open as I looked up at the man

above me, a strange thought slipped through my mind.

Maybe I finally understood Joey a little. Maybe changing things up once in a while really did feel different.

The next morning, Declan had already gone to work. I sat at the table eating breakfast while scrolling through my phone.

Suddenly, Joey’s mother called.

My fingers trembled slightly when I saw her name. I answered, and immediately heard crying on the other end.

“Anne…”

“Misty, if you want to break the mate bond, I’ll support you no matter what.”

My nose stung and tears slid down. “Anne, I’m sorry…”

“This isn’t your fault. It’s mine. I failed to raise Joey properly. I’ve let you down, I’ve really let you down…”

I wiped my eyes, my throat tight, unable to speak.

“Misty, don’t feel burdened. Even if you and Joey break the bond, you’ll always be my daughter.”

I said I wanted to dissolve the mate bond, but Joey refused.

He believed I only wanted it because I had lost my memories, because I had forgotten how much I loved him. He was convinced that once I…

remembered, I would regret it.

His wolf began sending pheromones toward mine, but I had already locked Mina away.

He wore the white shirts I liked, took me to my favorite restaurants, walked with me through the parks we used to visit, and repeated our shared memories over and over again.

He lived inside the past, constantly reminding me how good we once were.

But my expression never changed.

At last, he asked carefully, “You still don’t remember anything?”

I looked up at the blue sky and drifting clouds.

Suddenly, I realized I shouldn’t punish myself for his mistakes. I deserved to start a new life.

“Joey, actually I…”

“Misty, please don’t break the mate bond.”

He pulled me into his arms tightly, almost desperately.

“Misty, I’ll treat you well from now on. Even if you never remember, it’s okay. I’ll make you fall in love with me again.”

“Please don’t like anyone else. Don’t leave me. I can’t live without you.”

“Joey, you used to say you’d die without me too. But you still cheated.”

His body stiffened, his grip loosening slightly.

I pushed him away and smiled faintly when I saw the panic in his eyes.

“Actually, I never lost my memory. I lied to you.”

His eyes widened in disbelief. “Misty, what are you saying?”

“You lied to me first. I lied once in return. That makes us even.”
