“Tessa.”
“It’s me!”
I looked at the bandage wrapped around Evan’s forehead.
In the end,
I still walked downstairs.
Under the streetlights,
his hair looked longer than usual.

“Why are you here?”
“Weren’t you in the hospital?”

Evan gently grabbed my wrist.
“I have nothing going on with her!”
I looked into Evan’s eyes.

I nodded seriously.

I pulled my hand away.
Then I went upstairs without looking back.
I didn’t know when Evan left.
The next morning,
my mom knocked on my door.
Her face looked unpleasant.
She looked angry.
“Someone is looking for you outside.”
I got dressed and walked out.
The moment I saw the person standing there,
I stopped.
It was Chloe.
Tears covered her face.
It was rare to see her without makeup.
The motion sensor light in the stairwell turned on.
Then went dark again.

she spoke.
“You two broke up!”
“Why can’t I be with him?!”
“I just stood there.”
My expression didn’t change.
I didn’t even say a word.
Her face immediately turned red.
“Who do you think you are?”
“Are you proud of yourself?!”
“You broke up with him!”
“But your ex-boyfriend is still chasing after you!”
“Tessa, is this revenge?!”

“You don’t want him anymore.”
“So I can’t even choose him?”
“You threw him away!”
“And now I can’t even pick him up?”
Chloe laughed again.
“His head was just injured.”
“He doesn’t love you!”
“He kissed me. That morning!”

and went downstairs.
