HURRICANE! She Begged My Brother to Save Her—This Time, I Said No Chapter 07
“You don’t get to make an accusation whenever
you want… then drop it whenever it stops
benefiting you.”
Marcus hurried forward.
“Officer, Chloe isn’t emotionally stable right now.”
“She was standing on the edge of this roof just
minutes ago. She’s clearly still in shock.”
“Let her go to the hospital first. You can question
her after she’s been examined.”
I turned toward him.
“Marcus, why are you so nervous?”
Marcus’s expression tightened.
“What are you trying to say, Natalie?”
“I’m trying to protect one of my employees.”
“If she hurts herself here, are you going to take
responsibility?”
I looked at the officers.
“I have another video.”
“It’s security footage from Riverside Commons.”
I played the clip.
The timestamp read **11:26 p.m. last night**.
Rain hammered the pavement.
A black SUV stopped outside the apartment
building.
Chloe walked calmly out of the building beneath
an umbrella.
She wasn’t trapped at all.
Nor did she look frightened.
The driver’s door swung open.
A man in a black jacket stepped out and moved
beneath her umbrella.
The moment his profile came into view…
someone in the crowd blurted out,
“Wait… isn’t that Marcus?”
Marcus’s expression changed at once.
“It was pouring. The footage is too blurry to prove
anything.”
“Don’t make accusations based on a blurry video.”
I fast–forwarded the video.
The man circled the SUV and opened the
passenger door for her.
Before getting in, Chloe leaned in and kissed him.
Tyler immediately pointed at the screen.
“Chloe, this is the man who picked you up last
night, right?”
“I’d only met you once at one of Natalie’s company
events.”
“You barely knew me.”
“If you really thought that man was me, why did
you kiss him before getting into the car?”
Chloe’s composure finally shattered.
“No… that isn’t…”
“…”
She couldn’t get the words out.
She spun toward Marcus in desperation.
“Marcus, say something!”
Marcus clenched his jaw.
“What exactly do you want me to say?”
“I was at home all night.”
“Stop dragging me into your mess.”
Chloe stared at him in disbelief.
She clearly hadn’t expected Marcus to abandon
her the moment the truth came out.
One of the officers turned toward him.
“Sir, you’ll need to come with us too for
questioning.”
The color drained from Marcus’s face.
“What does this have to do with me?”
“One of my employees caused a scene. I came up
here to handle it.”
“How does that make me part of this?”
I opened another screenshot on my phone.
“Then explain this call.”
“At 10:58 last night, you and Chloe were on the
phone for twelve minutes.”
“At 11:03, she posted that plea for help in the
company Slack channel.”
“At 11:26, your SUV arrived outside her apartment
building.”
Before Marcus could answer, I opened the final
screenshot.
It was Whitmore Global’s internal executive
candidate list.
**Acting Director, Pacific Division.**
My name ranked first.
Chloe Sullivan’s was directly beneath it.
**Recommended by Marcus Coleman.**
Chloe went deathly pale.
She turned and ran for the stairwell.
One officer blocked her path.
“Where are you going?”
Chloe burst into tears.
“I don’t feel well. I need to go to the hospital.”
The officer didn’t move.
“A few minutes ago, you threatened to jump. unless the Bennett family paid you $1 million.”
“You’re going to tell us exactly what happened.”
Chloe gritted her teeth.
Finally, she pointed at Marcus.
“Marcus!”
“Don’t you dare deny it!”
“He told me that if I insisted Tyler assaulted me.
and made the biggest scene possible, the Bennett
family would definitely pay to keep it quiet.”
“Once Natalie was suspended…”
“My promotion would be guaranteed.”
