I Saved An Amnesiac Werewolf, Then Found A New Loyal Wolf Chapter 06

The crowd immediately parted to make a path.

I walked forward, step by step, until I stood before

her.

She held out the microphone with a gentle smile.

It’s simple. Just tell everyone that you and Draven

were never involved.”

And that the bond mark on your wrist was just an

accident.”

I didn’t take it. I just looked at her.

What if I don’t?”

The smile on her face faded.

Sera, don’t push your luck.”

Letting you stand here is already more than you

deserve.”

You don’t actually think a few hugs while Draven

had amnesia gave you the right to dream above

your station, do you?”

I looked past her. At Draven.

He stood only a few steps away. Calm. Silent.

He didn’t say a word for me.

He didn’t stop Lilith either. Just like in my

apartment. Just like in that private room.

He always let someone else do the dirty work. All

he ever did was stand there in silence.

Whatever bitterness was left inside me

disappeared.

Lilith lost her patience. She drew her hand back and swung.

I’m talking to-”

The crack of the slap cut through the air. Silence followed.

The side of my face burned. I kept my head turned for a few seconds before slowly looking back at her.

She was probably waiting for me to cry. To fall apart.

Instead, I touched my cheek, took the microphone

from her hand, and faced the crowd.

What exactly do you want me to say?”

I lifted my gazefirst to the crowd, then to Draven.

Three months ago, he collapsed in the underpass

near the old rail yard.”

I carried him home.”

The room fell silent.

Draven’s expression darkened.

When his fever wouldn’t break, I stayed by his

bedside for three days.”

“When he’d lost his memory, he held on to me and

begged me over and over not to leave him.”

Whispers swept through the crowd.

Lilith’s face twisted.

Shut your mouth-”

I stared her down.

Why? Can’t handle the truth?”

He didn’t think I was beneath him when he’d lost

his memory.”

He didn’t think my apartment was too cheap.

while he was depending on me to stay alive.”

Soft gasps rippled across the ballroom.

Then I looked at Draven.

Now that his memory is back and he’s standing

tall again, he gets to say it could have been.

anyone.”

A bitter smile touched my lips.

So this is werewolf honor, is it? Use someone

when you’re broken, then discard them the

moment you’re healed.”

The ballroom exploded into chaos.

Lilith lunged for the microphone.

Have you lost your mind?”

I stepped aside. Just then, someone in the crowd

stared at my wrist.

He cried out, That’s not a normal bond mark!”

That can’t be! Did Mr. Cross actually-”

Lilith’s face drained of color.

Draven finally moved. He strode toward me, his

voice low and sharp.

Sera. That’s enough.”

I met his eyes.

Enough? When they forced me up here, why didn’t

you say that was enough?”

He reached for my arm.

Before he could touch me, another hand caught

my wrist and pulled me back.

I stumbled into a cool, familiar scent.

Before I could even process what was happening,

I was already behind him. Caelan.

At some point, he had stepped onto the stage.

One arm shielded me behind him. The other

clamped around Draven’s wrist.

The ballroom fell completely silent.

Caelan looked back at me first. His eyes settled on

the red mark on my cheek. The warmth in his eyes

vanished.

Who hit you?”

Lilith took a step backward on instinct.

Draven’s face hardened.

What are you doing here?”

Caelan didn’t even look at him.

He took the microphone from my hand and

casually tossed it aside.

Then he stood between me and everyone else.

His voice wasn’t loud. It didn’t need to be.

She’s with me. No one in this room gets to make

her bow her head.
