Is This A Joke? My Whole Pack Betrayed Me On The Day I Became Luna Chapter 06
When Damon returned to Vesper’s room, his eyesÂ
were bloodshot.Â
Vesper saw him and immediately teared up.Â
“Damon, is Celine still refusing to forgive me?”Â
“When I’m discharged, I’ll get on my knees and apologize to her.”Â
In the past, that had always worked.Â
But this time, Damon placed his phone in front ofÂ
her.Â
“You said Celine leaked our private messages toÂ
gossip accounts. Where’s your proof?”Â
Vesper’s crying paused for half a second.Â
“Those accounts deleted everything. I don’t knowÂ
how to prove it.”Â
“But besides her, who else hates me that much?”Â
My mother instinctively wanted to defend her, but my father suddenly held her back.Â
Damon didn’t argue. He made one phone call:Â
“Contact PackNet and pull the backend records ofÂ
those gossip accounts.”Â
Within two hours, the backend records wereÂ
retrieved.Â
The device used to create the earliest gossipÂ
account was the same one Vesper used to run herÂ
own PackNet account.Â
Who had transferred money to the gossipÂ
accounts? Her longtime assistant.Â
The platform also recovered a piece of rawÂ
footage she’d deleted.Â
There was no video, but the audio clearly capturedÂ
her conversation with her assistant.Â
“Buy a bunch of paid accounts. Make theÂ
comments as vicious as possible.”Â
“Once it blows up, I’ll say Celine did it.”Â
“The more she tries to explain, the more guiltyÂ
she’ll look.”Â
The room was so quiet you could only hear theÂ
beeping of the machines.Â
The color drained from Vesper’s face.Â
“It’s not true.”Â
“I just… wasn’t thinking clearly…”Â
Damon didn’t look at her. He pulled up the hospitalÂ
corridor surveillance.Â
The footage showed Vesper opening her eyes after everyone left the room, smiling at me.Â
She grabbed my hand and pulled at her IV tubes.Â
Then my father stormed in. Without asking a single question, he shoved me to the ground.Â
My mother stared at herself on the screen.Â
I had fallen on the ground, reaching out to her forÂ
help.Â
But she had her back to me, holding Vesper, repeating over and over, “Don’t be afraid, Mom’sÂ
here.”Â
She said “Mom” to Vesper so naturally.Â
But she never left that word for her real daughter.Â
My mother covered her mouth and finally brokeÂ
down crying.Â
My father stared at the hand that had pushed me.Â
Then he raised his palm and slapped himself, overÂ
and over.Â
“It was me.”Â
“I killed my own grandchild…”Â
Vesper frantically pulled the surveillance pageÂ
down.Â
“Mr. Arden, Mrs. Arden, I was just so scared ofÂ
losing you.”Â
“Celine had everything growing up. My parentsÂ
were never around. I just wanted a pack that trulyÂ
belonged to me.”Â
Even now, she was still making excuses.Â
Damon finally looked up at her.Â
“Without Celine, you would never have known us.”Â
“She was the one who brought you to our PackÂ
House because she was afraid you’d spend yourÂ
birthday alone.”Â
“She was the one who spoke up for you, over andÂ
over, until everyone started treating your malice asÂ
a joke.”Â
His voice was hoarse by the end.Â
“You used her kindness.”Â
“And we–we were the ones who handed you theÂ
knife.”
