Is This A Joke? My Whole Pack Betrayed Me On The Day I Became Luna Chapter 05
I only learned later what happened.Â
After Damon saw the miscarriage report, he stoodÂ
at the dining table for a long time.Â
He recognized every word on that page. ButÂ
together, they read like a sentence in a languageÂ
he couldn’t understand.Â
Six weeks gestation.Â
Miscarriage due to trauma.Â
He suddenly remembered me grabbing his sleeve when I collapsed at the hospital room door.Â
“Damon, my stomach hurts.”Â
“I missed my period this month. I think I might beÂ
But I hadn’t been able to finish. Vesper had calledÂ
his name from inside the room.Â
He’d pulled his sleeve back. He hadn’t even lookedÂ
down at the blood on my skirt.Â
Damon grabbed the report and ran.Â
He ran three red lights on his way to the packÂ
medical center.Â
When he arrived, my hospital room had already been assigned to another patient.Â
The attending physician pulled up my records.Â
“Are you her mate?”Â
Damon’s throat tightened. He nodded painfully.Â
The doctor’s expression turned serious.Â
“Her wolf was unstable. She had a fever of 102.6Â
degrees. The external trauma caused severeÂ
bleeding by the time she arrived at the ER.”Â
“When she woke up, there wasn’t a single familyÂ
member by her side. She handled her own.Â
discharge.”Â
“We advised her to stay for observation. She saidÂ
if she stayed any longer, she’d miss her flight.”Â
Damon gripped the report tightly.Â
“The pup… it’s really gone?”Â
The doctor looked at him.Â
“She didn’t even know she was pregnant.”Â
“If someone had noticed her condition in time,Â
maybe the outcome would have been different.”Â
Those words shattered something deep insideÂ
him.Â
He slowly slid down the wall and covered his face.Â
And then, for the first time, in the corridor of the pack medical center, he broke down sobbing.Â
My parents arrived soon after.Â
Damon was still sitting on the floor.Â
My father took the report, and the color drained from his lips.Â
He remembered the hand that had shoved me. HeÂ
instinctively stepped back half a step.Â
But my mother seemed unable to believe it. SheÂ
grabbed the doctor.Â
“Could there be a mistake?”Â
“She was still talking. How could it be thisÂ
serious?”Â
The nurse on duty that night finally spoke up. “She kept saying her stomach hurt. Her skirt wasÂ
covered in blood.”Â
“But all of you were gathered around the other patient. Not one of you looked back.”Â
My mother opened her mouth, but no wordsÂ
came.Â
In the room, Vesper was still waiting for them to come back and comfort her.Â
But their real daughter had already flown away. They would never find her again.
