Marriage Lottery: Heaven Sign Or Hell Ticket Chapter 05
I lay collapsed on the floor, unable to move, forcing myself to lift my head.
The man sitting in the study was Elias.
But his expression was terrifyingly cold.
Vivian flinched, but reacted quickly. She pointed at me and shrieked, “Mr. Whitmore! Aria forced her way in! I tried everything to stop her!”
“She said she’s always been curious about your secret on the third floor, and… and that she wanted to see what your true love looks like so she could replace her!”
She dropped to her knees with a loud thud.
“I was just afraid she might do something foolish, so I followed her up.”
“Please don’t blame my sister. She’s suffering so much after marrying you….”
“But she broke the rules today. I know she deserves punishment. I only beg you to leave her a whole body.”
Impressive. Truly impressive acting.
I sneered inwardly but kept my eyes fixed on Elias.
Would he believe her?
According to the rumors from the previous life, anyone who set foot on the third floor was erased without a trace.
—
Vivian was trying to kill me with borrowed hands, leaving me no way to survive.
Elias’s gaze swept over Vivian.
Then he looked at me.
He walked over slowly, staring at my numb body.
“I’m doomed.” That was the only thought in my mind.
I hadn’t even spent enough of my monthly allowance.
Just as Vivian showed a triumphant smile, convinced Elias was about to strike me—
He crouched down, grabbed my chin, and examined my face from left to right.
Then his gaze fell on the visible injection mark on my neck.
He stood, walked to his desk, and opened a drawer.
I saw him take out a syringe.
Vivian’s eyes lit up instantly. “Mr. Whitmore! She may be my sister, but she must be punished! Don’t go easy on her, do whatever you must!”
Elias glanced at her. “And who do you think you are to tell me what to do?”
Vivian stepped back, nodding repeatedly, waiting to watch me suffer.
My heart sank.
Two lifetimes, and I still couldn’t escape death; my luck really was
—
something else.
Elias lifted my sleeve and injected the needle without hesitation.
Cold liquid entered my body.
I closed my eyes, waiting for death.
But a few seconds passed, and the expected agony never came.
Instead, the numbness began to fade.
First my fingers twitched, then my arms, then my legs……
I pushed myself up slowly, staring at Elias in shock.
He tossed the used syringe into the trash and returned to his usual cold demeanor. “Explain.”
I rubbed my still-tingling head.
Vivian was stunned to see me recover. “Mr. Whitmore, don’t believe her, she…”
Elias cut her off coldly, “Shut your mouth. I didn’t ask you.”
Vivian didn’t dare say another word.
I rubbed my neck.
“I don’t know why she was here. I came out of my shower and she was already sitting in the living room.”
“She said I stole her destined marriage, that I should be Mrs. Whitmore.”
—
“Then she jabbed me with that needle and dragged me up here, saying she wanted me to die knowing exactly who I was dying for……”
Vivian jumped up in fury. “Aria, you bitch! You are the one who wanted to see Mr. Whitmore’s true love! You want to replace her!”
I didn’t bother arguing. Half of what I said was true, half wasn’t.
It depended entirely on how Elias chose to interpret it.
Only then did Vivian and I finally have the time to take in the room around us.
There was no hospital bed. No dying woman.
It was just a normal study.
Except…
The walls were covered with photographs.
And the moment we saw what those photos showed, Vivian and I froze in place.
