Marriage Lottery: Heaven Sign Or Hell Ticket Chapter 06
The person in those photos was me!
More precisely, my back and my side profile.
Some were taken in the library, some at McDonald’s while I ate a burger, and some at a bus stop.
Even without seeing my full face, I recognized myself from high school instantly.
Vivian had competed with me for two lifetimes. She knew me too well.
She froze on the spot.
Then, realizing what this meant, she scrambled to twist the truth. “Mr. Whitmore, don’t be fooled by her! She already knew she resembled your true love, that’s why she married you on purpose, hoping to steal her place!”
“She even bragged to me, saying as long as she keeps that face, she can get anything she wants from you!”
I stared at the wall covered in photos, then looked down at myself, feeling utterly bewildered.
So Elias’s true love… was actually me?
Shouldn’t I be charging extra for doing double duty as my own stand-in?
Five million a month for two jobs… that pay rate was too low.
—
Vivian saw Elias remain silent and assumed he believed her. She cried even louder. “Everything I said is true! She’s jealous that I married Damian and found real love, so she tried to frame me!”
“A scheming woman like her doesn’t deserve to stay by your side!”
Her shrill voice gave me a headache. I rubbed my temples and spoke slowly, “Vivian, what nonsense are you talking about?”
I looked at Elias with wide, innocent eyes, “What true love? What stand-in? I don’t understand any of this.”
“You broke into my home, injected me with something, and now you’re saying all this crazy stuff. Are you… mentally unstable from Damian’s abuse?”
“Aria, you…” Vivian trembled with rage and lunged at me to tear my mouth apart.
Elias’s expression chilled instantly. He kicked her squarely in the chest.
Vivian flew backward, crashing into the bookshelf and coughing up blood.
Elias pulled out his phone and made a call, “Take care of her.”
Vivian’s face went pale. She scrambled on her knees and clung to his leg.
“Mr. Whitmore, I was wrong! I won’t dare again! Please spare me for my sister’s sake!”
“Aria! Aria, help me beg him! We’re sisters!”
—
I crouched down beside her and gently smoothed her messy hair.
“Vivian, weren’t you just trying to kill me?”
“Why remember we’re sisters only now?”
Two bodyguards walked in and dragged her away.
“No! Let go of me! Aria, you bitch…”
Her screams faded down the hallway until they disappeared completely.
Silence filled the study, cold and absolute.
I stood up and brushed off the dust from my hands, my gaze drifting back to the wall of photos.
It really was me.
Taken from all angles, over a long span of time.
When had Elias started paying attention to me?
I looked at him, and he was already looking at me.
I tugged at the corner of my lips and let out a dry laugh, “Mr. Whitmore, this……”
“If you had told me earlier that your true love was me, I could’ve prayed with more enthusiasm.”
“Maybe even gone above and beyond—pulled out all the stops to get those blessings maxed out for you.”
Elias ignored my attempt at deflection.
—
“What do you mean? You’re saying the person in those photos is you?”
