My Sister’s ‘Secret Boyfriend’ Was My Fiance Chapter 06
Graham frowned.
“I never said I was selling the condo.”
The man glanced at his phone before replying, “Ms. Bennett is the one who listed it. What’s your relationship to her?”
Graham froze.
Nora was selling the condo? Why hadn’t she told him?
Worse, this was supposed to be their home after the wedding.
Graham refused to believe it. “There has to be some mistake. Why would she sell this place?”
The real estate agent assured him there was no mistake.
“Maybe you should call Ms. Bennett and ask her yourself.”
Graham called Nora four or five times, but she did not answer.
Then he tried texting her, only to discover that she had blocked his number.
The first text never showed as delivered. Graham stared at the screen in disbelief and tried again, but the second one never showed as delivered either.
The agent looked at him. “Are you Graham Hale?”
The color drained from Graham’s face. It took him several seconds to say yes.
—
“Ms. Bennett had someone leave your luggage at the building’s security desk,” the agent said. “You can pick it up there.”
With that, he stepped forward, entered the door code, and led the prospective buyers inside.
Graham stood frozen in place.
Only then did he realize that Nora truly intended to sell the home they had planned to share after the wedding.
How was that possible?
They had only had an argument. They had not really broken up. How could Nora take things as far as selling the condo?
This was supposed to be their home after they were married.
How could she bear to let it go?
But with everything unfolding in front of him, Graham had no choice but to accept that Nora was actually selling their home.
He went down to the security desk. After asking him a couple of questions, the security guard brought out two large suitcases.
“That’s everything. Just the two suitcases.”
Graham stared blankly at them.
That was when it finally sank in that none of this was a dream.
His phone vibrated.
The restaurant: [Your reservation is in one hour.]
—
The restaurant was notoriously difficult to book, and reservations had to be made a month in advance.
Nora loved the food there, so Graham had reserved a table a month ago for their fifth anniversary.
But now Nora had blocked his number.
She was even selling the home they were supposed to share.
Still unable to believe it, Graham called her again. The call did not go through.
Nora did not respond.
She had blocked him on Instagram too.
With no other choice, Graham loaded the suitcases into his car.
Then he set out to find Nora.
But as soon as he sat behind the wheel, he realized that he had no idea where she was.
Where was he even supposed to look?
For the first time, Graham understood how little he knew about Nora’s life after spending a year on an overseas assignment.
He also realized that since coming home, he had not once sat down and had a real conversation with her.
With no other options, he called Lila and asked her to message Nora.
Lila was Nora’s sister. Surely Nora would not cut her off completely.
—
Graham knew how close the two sisters had always been.
But when Lila called him back, her voice was thick with tears.
“Graham, what are we going to do? Nora blocked me.”
“I can’t get through to her by phone either.”
Graham finally began to panic.
