On Graduation Day, He Pushed Me Aside For Her Chapter 09
“He claims he loves me. But with that, he never hesitated to believe others.”
My roommate was speechless before cursed under her breath. “He’s deranged.”
Then she was like being inspired by her words and continued. “You’re acting perfectly. You’re far better off staying far away from him.”
Patrick finally left the next day. Before departing, he asked someone to bring me a word. “Harvard haven’t seen my registration. If I delay any longer, they’ll mark me for dropping out. Wait for me, Ivy.”
I never sent any reply.
I thought everything would fade away from that point, yet a few days later, my roommate erupted in anger back in our dorm room.
“Someone is talking shit about you online!”
I took her phone and read the post. No names were explicitly stated, but key details were laid out: childhood sweethearts, top SAT scorers, boy skipping registration, traveling all the way to Seattle to chase the girl.
Anyone knew us well could instantly figure out who the post was targeting.
The rumor alleged that I had exploited our childhood bond to meddle in the relationship between two high school stars. It claimed the boy had skipped registration of Harvard because of me, nearly losing the spot.

News of Patrick Muller’s absence to register had already been hot. It did not take long for users to identify him. Several guys from high school also appeared and said.
“This bitch must be Ivy Anderson, right?”
“Patrick and Gloria were clearly flirting all throughout high school; they even stood side by side for the graduation photos.”
“They went to the movies together and had lover’s match food, and that hair tie on Patrick’s wrist supposedly belonged to Gloria.”
“Ivy Anderson always tagged along behind them; it looked ugly and awkward.”
They kept on grilling me like they finally figured out a reason to judge.
Before long, several students on campus also recognized me. There were whispering in the cafeteria. People would turn their heads to gawk as I walked to class.
My roommate was all raged. “You stay here. I’m gonna wring out the truth from them.”
I was about to hold her back when my phone suddenly vibrated. Patrick had posted an update.
“Gloria and I were never a couple. The only girl I have loved from start, my girlfriend, is Ivy Anderson.” “She had never interfered in anyone’s relationship.” “I voluntarily skipped the registration And she was not involved.”
Almost simultaneously, he sent me a text message. “You’re safe, Ivy.”
I stared at those words for a very long time, frozen in place. When I
—
first saw the slanderous posts, I had instinctively assumed he would once again tell me to endure.
After all, Gloria was the best, a star whose reputation could not afford any blemishes.
And for the longest time, it had always fallen to me to bear the embarrassment for the two of them. This time, though, he had truly stood firmly on my side.
Shortly after Patrick made an announcement, former high school classmates who were close to me stepped forward to defend me.
“Ivy never broke up a couple. She and Patrick were already together long ago.”
“Patrick Muller pushed her away to make space for Gloria beside him when taking photos.”
“It was Gloria who hit on Patrick Muller; Ivy Anderson was the one suffering all along.”
Public opinion swiftly shifted entirely. Patrick and Gloria were under discussion, and all the moments that everyone had once hailed as a perfect match were now regarded as proof of inappropriate flirt.
A few days afterward, Patrick came to see me. He looked noticeably gaunt and worn out, yet his eyes lit up the second he caught sight of me. “Ivy.”
He walked up to me, his voice rough and hoarse. “I’m so sorry. Now I realized what a jerk I was.”
