The Broken Luna’s New Pack Chapter 01

The Broken Luna’s New Pack Chapter 01

After my friendship with Rosalie fell apart, we spent two years fighting a legal battle over a hunting dog.

However, during the first hearing, my brakes failed on the way to the Werewolf Court, causing a car accident that made me miss the trial.

The second time, my alcoholic and gambling-addicted father suddenly barged into the courtroom midway through the hearing, angering the Alpha judge and causing me to lose the case.

The third time, I spent eight hundred thousand dollars to hire the best lawyer in the werewolf realm, determined to win. But right before the trial began, my lawyer suddenly disappeared without a trace.

By the fourth lawsuit, a witness’s slip of the tongue completely destroyed my last chance of getting my hunting dog, Popcorn, back.

“You lost again, Willow. I told you a long time ago, you would never be able to beat me.”

As I walked out of the Werewolf Royal Court, Rosalie stood high above me on the steps, clearly waiting to see me lose control.

But this time, I was unusually calm. I didn’t argue with her anymore or fight until one of us was completely defeated.

Instead, I pulled my hand out of my mate Alpha Damian’s palm and stopped him as he was about to get into the car with me.

“You went through all this trouble to fool me for so long. Now that you’ve won, shouldn’t you be celebrating with her?”

Those words instantly threw both of them into panic.

The hidden anxiety in Damian’s eyes was impossible to miss, “Willow, it’s not what you think. I can explain…”

I clenched my hand and asked with a faint, almost amused smile, “Then what is it?”

Before he could answer, Rosalie walked over and intertwined her fingers with his.

“Enough, Willow. Alpha Damian and I are together now. What can you do about it? You only have yourself to blame. You couldn’t win Popcorn back, and you couldn’t even keep your own mate.”

Her face was still pale, but she refused to let herself lose the argument.

I said nothing.

I simply stepped up two stairs and met her blue eyes.

Damian’s face turned pale. He immediately stepped in front of Rosalie.

“It was all my fault. I was drunk when I touched her. I was also the one who manipulated the witness’s statement. No matter what happened, it was my fault. If you want someone to blame, blame me. Don’t put everything on Rosalie.”

Looking at how desperately he protected her, I suddenly found it ridiculous.

“Damian, you think too highly of yourself.”

I took a step back, turned around, got into the car, and stepped on the accelerator.

The scenery outside the window slowly faded behind me. In the rearview mirror, my eyes caught one last glimpse of the two people who had once been the most important parts of my life, yet were now drifting farther and farther away.

Rosalie was a member of the northern pack whom I met when I went there for training.

Back then, I couldn’t get used to the food in the north, so she often found different ways to cook the signature dishes of our pack for me.

Whenever training lasted until late at night, she was also the one who chased away the drunkards I encountered on my way home.

Popcorn had protected our pack several times and was also my grandfather’s most beloved hunting dog.

When Popcorn got sick, Rosalie stayed with me at the animal hospital for the entire night.

Later, we returned to our pack together. With Damian’s support, Rosalie and I became pack warriors.

Our pack went from being unknown to becoming one that every pack in the werewolf realm recognized.

The three of us were once the most envied trio in the entire werewolf realm.

Until one day, I discovered that Rosalie had stolen my pack defense strategy.

We had the biggest argument we had ever had, and that was the moment our perfect trio completely fell apart.

Back then, Damian had stood by my side without hesitation and demanded justice for me during the strategy theft scandal.

For a while, I truly believed he would be the person who would stand beside me forever.

But then the dog hair on his hoodie, the footage from his car recorder, and the familiar figures in Rosalie’s couple vlog shattered my illusion.

When the traffic light turned from green to red, Damian’s call came through. He sounded like he had finally calmed down and spoke with regret.

“I’m sorry, Willow. I was too impulsive just now. It was wrong of me to hide this from you. I thought about finding the right time to tell you, but every time I imagined how hurt you would be, I just…”

I looked at the moonstone hanging on my windshield.

Years ago, Damian had specially traveled to the Moon Goddess Temple to ask for it. The stone had received the Moon Goddess’s blessing and was meant to protect me.

I interrupted him coldly, “Do you know how painful it was when the steel bar pierced through my chest in the accident you arranged?”

The only response I received was silence, so I continued.

“If you knew, you wouldn’t have stood there with Rosalie in the wedding dress shop, watching me suffer with cold eyes, would you?”

“Sorry, Willow. I, I…”

The wind blowing into the car made my eyes sting. I no longer wanted to listen to his excuses, “Let’s break our mate bond, Damian.”

The light turned green, and I stepped on the accelerator again.

The car sped forward, passing the blue farm café Damian always begged me to bring coffee from, and the smoothie shop where I used to preorder blueberry yogurt smoothies for Rosalie whenever she worked the night patrol shift.

Every time I passed those places before, I would always stop without thinking.

But now, I simply clicked the confirmation button on the invitation from Lycan Royal for the Royal Warrior Program.

From now on, I would never waste another minute on them.

When I pushed open the door, my mother and my brother Tobias immediately came over.

“How did it go? Did you bring Popcorn back?”

When I shook my head, the two of them let out a barely noticeable sigh of relief.

“It’s okay. Rosalie isn’t a bad child. Popcorn will be fine staying with her.”

I smiled and interrupted her, “Popcorn not coming back… isn’t that exactly what you wanted?”
