Nathan staggered back against the wall. 

He called Georgie again and again. Only then did he realize that he could recite every digit of Georgie’s phone number without hesitation. 

After all these years, he still couldn’t do the same 

with Jasmine’s. 

The truth hit him with brutal clarity. 

Somewhere along the way, he had fallen in love 

with Georgie. 

Why had it taken losing her for him to understand? 

[Georgie, please answer. I can explain everything. Just give me a chance. I’m begging you.] 

[Where are you? Today is our wedding. I’ll wait for you as long as it takes.] 

[Georgie, I love you. I really do. I swear. 

Somewhere in all those ordinary days together, I 

fell in love with you without even realizing it.] 

He meant every word, but she didn’t answer any of 

them. 

With every unanswered message, Nathan’s hope 

ebbed. 

Georgie had always answered his messages within seconds. 

Now she must have seen them and chosen never to answer him again. 

While Nathan fell apart in the bedroom, Jasmine sat in the living room calling Georgie over and over again. Like Nathan, she heard nothing but the cold automated recording directing her to voicemail. 

Eventually, she lowered the phone. 

Georgie had always answered Jasmine’s calls immediately. 

Now she was gone. 

Jasmine still couldn’t understand where they had slipped up or how Georgie had discovered the 

affair, let alone the cottage. 

Neither of them had time to think anymore. The minutes kept passing, and guests were already 

beginning to arrive at the wedding venue. 

Guests were arriving for a wedding that no longer 

existed. 

Eventually, Nathan left the bedroom, ignored 

Jasmine, and headed for his car. 

Jasmine followed instinctively. She wanted him to 

comfort her, but she couldn’t bring herself to ask. 

They drove to the hotel in silence. 

“What are you going to do?” Jasmine finally asked. 

Nathan tightened his grip on the steering wheel. 

“I’ll call off the wedding and say there was an 

emergency. I’ll apologize, return every gift, and 

cover everyone’s travel expenses. Whatever it 

takes.” 

Jasmine nodded. 

She didn’t want anyone finding out what they had 

done. She knew their relationship was shameful, 

no matter how desperately she tried to justify it. 

But they had underestimated Georgie. 

By the time they reached the hotel, nearly all the 

guests had arrived, only to learn that the wedding. 

had already been canceled. 

“Canceled?” 

The guests stared at one another in confusion. 

“There has to be some mistake. How could the 

wedding be canceled?” 

“This is Nathan Cole and Georgia Bennett’s 

wedding, right?” 

The hotel employee remained composed. 

“Yes, it is.” 

“Our records show that Ms. Bennett canceled the 

reception a week ago. We were told the guests.

Gasps rippled through the lobby, followed by a rising wave of whispers and speculation. 

Nathan and Jasmine arrived just in time to hear 

the employee’s explanation. 

Both of them stopped cold. 

A week ago? 

That was the day Jasmine had gotten married. 

They looked at each other as the same realization 

struck them. Georgie must have followed Nathan 

into the hallway that day and heard everything. 

Nathan struggled to breathe. 

He had always believed he had hidden the affair 

perfectly. 

Apparently, he had been wrong. 

The moment the guests noticed Nathan and 

Jasmine, they surrounded them with questions. 

“Nathan, what’s going on?” 

Nathan’s parents, Robert and Helen Cole, were 

visibly shaken. They were mortified to be facing so 

many confused relatives without even knowing 

where the bride was. 

Robert’s expression hardened. 

“What happened between you and Georgie? Where 

is she?” 

Members of the Bennett family turned to Jasmine. 

“Jasmine, you’re Georgie’s closest relative. What 

happened?” 

Jasmine went pale. She couldn’t force out a single 

word. 

Nathan stepped forward to address the crowd. 

“I’m deeply sorry. Something unexpected 

happened between Georgie and me. We’ll return 

every gift and reimburse any travel expenses. 

We’re sorry, but we have to ask everyone to leave. I apologize for making you come all this way.” 

Another wave of shocked exclamations broke out. 

So the wedding really had been canceled. 

Just then, Mia Bennett, one of Georgie’s younger 

cousins, raised her phone. 

“It’s on Georgie’s Instagram Story!” 

Everyone turned toward her. 

Mia stared at the screen in disbelief. Then she 

held up the phone, revealing the picture of Nathan 

kissing Jasmine outside the cottage. 

“Nathan, Jasmine… is this you?” 

Nathan and Jasmine both staggered. 

Nathan stared at the image in horror. 

Georgie had actually exposed them. 

The entire lobby fell silent. 

Robert and Helen were the first to recover from 

the shock. 

“Nathan. Jasmine.” 

Robert stepped forward and slapped Nathan 

across the face, then struck Jasmine just as hard. 

“You should both be ashamed of yourselves!” 

“How could you do something this disgusting to 

Georgie? What the hell is wrong with both of you?” 

Jasmine reeled from the blow. 

She had never been so humiliated. The contempt.

disappear on the spot. 

Part of her even began to resent Georgie for 

posting the picture publicly. 

Jasmine pressed a hand to her burning cheek and 

looked at Nathan. His cheek was red from the

“I’m sorry. I was wrong, and I’ll take responsibility 

for what I did.” 

“I’m going to find Georgie. I finally realized I’m in 

love with her.” 

Jasmine stared at him. 

Before she could respond, Ethan shouted from 

across the lobby. 

“You lying, cheating bitch!” 

He crossed the lobby and slapped her hard. 

“We’re done. I want a divorce.” 

Jasmine fell to the floor, but no one reached down.
