After She Could Smell Emotions, She Called Off the Wedding Chapter 07
Nathan wandered the streets aimlessly until heÂ
found himself outside their old high school.Â
Back then, Jasmine had been the one he loved.Â
Georgie was merely a classmate he barelyÂ
noticed.Â
It wasn’t until Georgie confessed her feelings thatÂ
he realized the sisters had misunderstood whichÂ
one of them he liked.Â
He had wanted to turn her down, but then itÂ
occurred to him that rejecting her would meanÂ
losing his only reason to remain in Jasmine’s life.Â
But when he saw the hope in Georgie’s eyes, heÂ
agreed against his better judgment.Â
Everything had changed in the years that followed.Â
Through countless ordinary moments, Georgie.Â
had claimed a place in his heart that eventuallyÂ
eclipsed anything he had ever felt for Jasmine.Â
Nathan stared through the school gates, almostÂ
able to see the shy girl standing there with a loveÂ
letter clutched in both hands.Â
He looked down, overcome with regret.Â
He had understood everything too late. GeorgieÂ
was the woman he truly loved. What he felt forÂ
Jasmine had been nothing more than an oldÂ
obsession, fueled by the fact that she had alwaysÂ
remained out of reach.Â
When Nathan returned home, he sat on the couch.Â
and slowly surveyed the house.Â
Georgie had filled this place piece by piece. HerÂ
touch remained in every corner.Â
Night fell, but he didn’t turn on the lights. HeÂ
simply sat in the darkness, consumed byÂ
loneliness and regret.Â
Then he noticed a list hanging on the wall.Â
[100 Things Georgie Wants to Do]Â
The first item caught his attention.Â
[1. See the northern lights in Iceland.]Â
Nathan finally knew where to start looking.Â
He booked the first available flight and rushed toÂ
the airport, his palms sweating.Â
“Wait for me, Georgie. Just give me the chance toÂ
explain everything.”Â
I didn’t reply.Â
There was no point. Once I left, I had no intention.Â
of seeing any of them again.Â
Mia, however, had always been outspoken andÂ
closer to me than most of the family. She hadÂ
always called Jasmine fake and pretentious, and it turned out she’d been right.Â
[They both got slapped. Robert slapped NathanÂ
and Jasmine. Then Ethan slapped Jasmine again.Â
He says he’s divorcing her.]Â
[Please don’t be sad, Georgie.]Â
I sent her a short reply.Â
[Don’t worry. I’m doing fine. Thank you.]Â
I hadn’t expected Ethan to find out or demand aÂ
divorce.Â
Then again, Jasmine had betrayed everyone whoÂ
loved her. She didn’t deserve a happy ending,Â
much less anyone’s love.Â
As for Nathan, I wouldn’t have cared if he droppedÂ
dead.Â
Just as the thought crossed my mind, a car spedÂ
toward the hotel and stopped abruptly in front ofÂ
- me.Â
Before I could react, someone pulled me into aÂ
warm, trembling embrace.
