HURRICANE! She Begged My Brother to Save Her—This Time, I Said No Chapter 05
I scoffed.
“$1 million?”
“I wasn’t talking about money.”
“I was talking about the justice you claimed you
wanted.”
I opened the archived livestream on my phone.
“Take a good look at who this is.”
Tyler’s face appeared clearly on the screen.
I looked Chloe straight in the eye.
“Tyler was livestreaming all night.”
“He stayed on camera the entire time and ran a cash giveaway every thirty minutes. More than a
hundred thousand viewers stayed in the stream.”
I held the phone up for everyone to see.
“The witnesses he mentioned aren’t my family.”
“They’re the hundred thousand viewers who
watched his stream.”
The color drained from Chloe’s face.
She quickly gritted her teeth and shot back.
“How do we know that livestream wasn’t staged?”
“Natalie, your family has money. It wouldn’t be
hard for you to hire people and record a fake
livestream.”
The coworkers who had been looking at one
another uncertainly immediately joined in again.
“She’s right. How do we know it wasn’t recorded
beforehand?”
“Livestream archives can be edited now too,
right?”
“It’s much easier for rich people to manufacture.
evidence.”
Tyler clenched his fists.
“The evidence is right in front of you, and you still
refuse to believe it?”
“I was live all night! More than a hundred thousand
people watched me!”
Chloe immediately turned to him.
“Your family could’ve paid to promote the stream,
used paid accounts to flood the chat with fake.
comments, and hired witnesses.”
“Doesn’t all that prove your family had something
to hide?”
“I’m just an intern who recently graduated. How
am I supposed to fight a family like yours?”
Marcus spoke with a grim expression.
“Natalie, technology is so advanced now.”
“You think one livestream archive is enough to
silence everyone?”
I glanced at him.
“What’s the rush?”
I opened Tyler’s streamer dashboard.
“The stream started at 8:03 p.m.”
“At 1:17 a.m., he went live with another gaming
streamer.”
“At 3:42 a.m., a platform moderator conducted a
compliance check on the stream.”
“At 5:26 a.m., Tyler read viewer comments on
camera in real time.”
As I spoke, I pulled up each corresponding record
from the dashboard.
A younger coworker stepped closer and checked
the screen.
“The joint stream record is right here.”
“And there’s a screenshot of the platform.
moderator’s review record.”
Chloe struggled to keep her composure.
“Your family has money. It wouldn’t be hard for you
to pay another streamer to lie for you.”
I nodded.
“Then let’s ask the streamer who was live with
him.”
In front of everyone, I told Tyler to video–call the
other streamer.
After a few rings, someone answered.
A young man with messy hair appeared on the
screen, his eyes half–closed.
He had clearly just woken up.
“Tyler?”
“What do you want now?”
The younger coworker beside me stared at the
screen.
“Is that… esports star Logan Brooks?”
Tyler moved closer to the camera.
“Logan Brooks, tell them.”
“Was I gaming with you all night last night?”
Logan swore.
“You’ve got some nerve asking me that.”
“You kept dragging me into matches from
midnight until six.”
“You played terribly and still refused to log off.”
“You cost me a ton of rank points.”
Tyler spoke again.
“Look at me carefully.”
“Was that really me on your screen all night?”
Logan leaned closer to the camera, visibly
annoyed.
“Seriously?”
“I stared at your face on my screen all night.”
“My eyes still hurt from looking at you.”
I lowered my phone and looked at Chloe.
“Logan Brooks is one of the country’s top
professional esports players.”
“His endorsement deals are worth millions.”
“Why would someone like him risk his career to
help us fake an alibi?”
Chloe bit her lip.
After a long silence, she finally said weakly,
“Maybe…”
“Maybe I mistook him for someone else.”
The rooftop fell completely silent.
By then, everyone could tell there was something
seriously wrong with Chloe’s story.
